Our first dog, Molli (border collie/GSP) was a Craigslist dog. She was the first dog for my husband and me - we picked her up and then left on our honeymoon to the beach with her.
Jet, our SBT mix, was a foster dog that we adopted through Seattle Humane Society. Boxie, our Great Dane, was a gift from friends (though we did talk about it first - always good with any animal gift, even more so with a giant dog!) When it comes time for another dog, I'll be looking for a breeder that has working SBT. The same goes for our next dane, I'll be looking to a breeder with quality dogs. |

Wilson & Piper were both found via CL. Wilson I got before I knew much about BYB's and the like, although his "breeder" did have his mom spayed after the pups were weaned (supposedly it was an accident; Wilson's dad dug a hole in the fence and got to her), so she was better than most!
Piper I was lured in to getting.. I had an ad about searching for a pup, was trying to find one that was being fostered. People emailed me and told me they had a "rescue litter". Turns out, they meant that they had "rescued" the mom from AC and then bred her.. once I saw the conditions of the home (cockroaches crawling up walls, pups peeing everywhere and no one cleaning up, fleas, etc.), I gave them $50 and brought her home. Couldn't leave her there. Sako I didn't plan.. his breeder is a member here and was sharing pictures of his litter. At the time, he wasn't available (she intended on keeping him), but I PM'd her asking about her kennel anyway because I had always wanted an Amstaff. Got to talking with her and.. the rest is history LOL. |

truthfully, The day we decided to get a dog (we have been thinking about it previously but no final decision was made), I wanted a little house dog (you know the tea cup dogs) but because I have ALL men in the house, they wanted a more manly dog and so they decided that an APBT would do (keep in mind that I have done all my research prior to our final decision on getting a dog). That was day 1.
The next day as I was looking around through sites and searching where would be the best place to get a dog, I get a call from my husband saying "we got our pup and we're heading home!" - It looks like my husband had been looking into this for a while, we purchased our pup from a local breeder. Below is the 1st pic of our pup as he was heading home with his new found family. And the picture of him sleeping was his first night with us. I wouldn't trade him in for anything! |

All of my dogs are from breeders.
Peshamba and Bukra are from very responsible breeders that I would get dogs from again and am friends with. Jolene is from a good breeder who I speak to on occasion. Ruger is from a BYB (they used to be my neighbours, and the dam would come stay with me for walks and playtime and attention, because they never did anything with her ![]() |

All of my dogs are from breeders. Snow = Oops breeding from in laws. Koi = Oops Breeding. Got her from a random guy who had the mother with him. Jud = Rescue from the streets. My next dog is going to be a GSD with papers and from a good breeder. My next APBT is going to have papers and be from a good breeder. |

I was actually on a pretty long waiting list for a Shetland Sheepdog from a reputable breeder at the time I ended up with my dog. However I came across that cute little pup with the big ears and the big sad eyes on petfinder and I couldn't not bring her home. Turns out I got the perfect dog I never was looking for. She has a short manageable coat, low to medium energy, easy to train, bomb proof temperment. She has been the best dog ever. I'm so glad I took a chance on that little rescue mutt, because every day she continues to surprise me. Just an all around great animal.
I'm glad I took the chance and adopted her. Because I got everything I ever wanted in a dog and I don't know if I would have found that with any other dog. I lucked out and got the dog I always wanted since I was a kid. And we have been lucky that thus far she has been overall relatively healthy. I'll definitely rescue again. I'd never turn down the "right" rescue dog. However I am starting to seriously look into getting a well bred purebred as well. Unfortunately our other dog (purebred) came from bad breeding from a byb and we lost him at 2 and a half years old. He was a very sick boy all his life. So before I go out and pay a lot of money for another purebred I'm going to be damn sure I know what I am getting. |

Our pup, named Mickey Mouse by our 3 year old daughter (Mickey for short) came from my husband's ex-employee. My husband is a contractor, but works right along side the guys as a carpenter. It's hard to find laborers and we go through them like water. This guy bought our pup and had him for a week or two. After that he decided he had to go because he "pissed and shit" all over the place. This guy locked our pup in a bathroom 24/7 then wondered why he wasn't born house broken. Moron.
Anyways, I was looking for a lab, labradoodle or golden. But when this guy was about to sell our pup I couldn't let him go to gold toothed drug dealer. I'm not sure if we paid for him, my husband took care of it. We either gave him $50-100 or forgave a debt for the same amount. At the time I was told he was a "full blooded" APBT. I had a feeling he wasn't. I don't care, he's the best. The next one will be a well bred APBT from a GREAT breeder. Unless a great rescue comes my way... |
