So we have clients at the vets office who own three dogs, apbt, a boxer, and a small mutt dog, Any way the boxer and the apbt had a lot of fights, once the entire boxers chest was torn up, another fight the pit bull needed like 20 drains put in her head, and needless to say after about 25 visits for dog fights the pit bull tore the boxer up so bad, he was bleeding so much the only thing we could do for him was put him down...
What's sad is i suggested keeping the dogs separate to her, and i also told her to look into a break stick... But people don't like to listen to me for some reason. |

What an idiot owner. Frigging hell. Why would some one keep two dogs together, alone when they are known to fight. |

How hard is it to keep them separate?! I've had a few decide AGAINST getting a dog from me once they saw that it might not be the carefree relationship they wanted their dog to have with another dog. Having to separate when unsupervised seemed to be the deal-breaker. That's okay. Crate and rotate can be a pain-in-the-ass at times and you all know it. carla |

Maybe it's just because I've been doing it for so damn long.. but I really don't find c/r to be a hassle AT ALL. I think you have to be pretty damn lazy if shutting a crate door (or more than one, if you have multiple dogs) is THAT big of a hassle... Growing up, we hunted with an English cocker spaniel, and had friends with brittanys and setters. We had a lot of land and would frequently dog-sit. It never seemed strange to us to keep the dogs APART. We had a dog run in the backyard, a secure wrap around deck, and a couple of cages under the house (We lived in FL and our house was on slits.) I just don't get how people think dogs will get along all the time, regardless of breed. |

It doesn't even make sense. The first time I've ever had issues with dog aggression was with Bentley. My first instinct was to separate him from other dogs and not allow him to meet any because he was unpredictable at first with other dogs. He and my mom's dog didn't get along at all so we separated them.
This isn't rocket science. I have no idea how people are this dumb. I mean who knew that crate/rotate was an actual thing?? I sure didn't but it's what I found that kept my dogs safe. Gah. |

So sad! You would thing that by crate and rotate would be a hell of a lot easier then constant vet visits and bills and seeing the dogs u love being ripped up! I only had to crate and rotate once in my life about 17 years ago. A female dobie and a female shepard at first it was a pain but it became 2nd nature even for the dogs! Poor boxer.

I'm pretty convinced that anyone who thinks it's a waste of time to crate and rotate, obviously must not have multiple children. lol
![]() Personally, we don't leave any of our animals out in the house when we're not home, except the cat, she pretty much does what she wants, and no one better tell her otherwise...lol I would be SO paranoid all day at work about the dogs if I knew they were out and about in the house...not to mention, I'd be worried about what the hell they were getting into anyways....lol And besides, our doggys love their crates. They're like little bedrooms...they spend alot of time in them even when the doors are wide open. They're able to be in the yard with each other (always supervised) and in the house with each other (also supervised) MOST of the time...but we've also seem them get very snarky with each other over nothing....so it's just not worth the risk to me at all. I just don't understand why someone would continue to let two dogs interact that had actually been in ACTUAL fights previously. Doesn't make sense at all.....Poor doggys..... ![]() |

What always amazes me are the people who are so appauled by dog fighting but will do stupid crap like this and can't seem to grasp the irony. But, I will say, in talking to people who do not have multiple dogs and you DO bring up the subject, you'd be surprised how many people, when they think about it, don't want to be bothered with crate and rotate. So they make the wise, informed decision to NOT get themselves into a multiple dog format! Head it off at the pass when ever you can is what I say! |

~Sarcasm below~
1 crates cost LOTS of money. Money I could do something fun with. 2 crates are bad. Why would you lock your dog up in a cell? 3 crate and rotate is hard! You have to do something. Why not take the easy way out and just let your dogs hurt each other and hope it gets better? Maybe they will work it out. The above is why I don't do dog training any more. It makes you want to boot people in the head. I know of a women who had a insane HA cocker spaniel who had a "opps" litter. She would not crate(besides other stupidity problems). So she had a pack of 6 dogs, mom and 5 pups. At the end of year 2, after many problems and dog fights and vet bills, she came home to two dead dogs and a another vet bill. Yes, a pack fight broke out and 2 dogs were killed. And these were freaking cocker things! ![]() |

For myself, we invested in a 12 x 8 x 10 kennel with a solar top on it for Diesel. Not hard at all to walk him up the hill, secure him, and tend to my business. Poor dogs that suffer for the stupidity of their owners. |

2 crates are bad. Why would you lock your dog up in a cell? (That's not to say crates are bad, they're fine, I'm just saying that there are alternatives for people who would rather their dogs had a bit more space.) |

We have to CR our two male EB's and had I known this was going to happen we would not have taken the second dog. I find the whole situation unacceptable and truly wish we had not gotten the second male. CR is a major pain in the ass when you're used to just having a couple of lazy, easy going dogs around. There is tension in the room every time the two are not crated and we have to be constantly on guard that one or the other isn't confined and loose. We have discussed rehoming one but my wife just can't part with either one.
I suppose you get used to that life style but for me, I'd rather not have to live like that. |

Damn you Cliff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will say it again! You are NOT the general public! You actually seem to have dog smarts and a brain. I trust you would not let your dogs fight over the course of a couple of years till one is dead. Most people out in the world are NOT SMART and not DOG smart! They won't afford a crate so they sure won't build a kennel. Chain spots or tethering is WAYYYYYY bad in their eyes(people seem to like zip lines tho, odd. But you STILL have to buy stuff and put it up and it will ruin the lawn). Most people would not give a dog their own room ![]() So what you ~can~ do with your dogs, the general public ~won't~ do. |
