Petrushkaukrop 06-18-2012 12:04 AM

The only for sure way to get your dogs ears to always stay the same would be to tape them or to have cropped them at a young age. Now, you're basically stuck with however the ears decide to lay. They may permanently stand up or they might just be going through a phase..

Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Your dog's got "crazy ears"

Marc Spilkintin 06-18-2012 12:31 AM

By Pit Bull standards, your dog is still a puppy. His ears may continue to change for several more months. Though I would predict that they probably won't go back down at this point.

newshep 06-18-2012 12:40 AM

I live in south africa. Cropping ears are illegal here. Bt however his ears turn out I'm gona love him wid all my heart coz he's my big baby. It does make him look mre attentive.lol

Marc Spilkintin 06-18-2012 12:44 AM

I've got a pup with prick ears... for awhile there, his ears did ALL sorts of cute things and I almost taped them into "button" ears because they were ADORABLE... but, I didn't. And now they're prick! I love them http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

We're u guys from ? I gt another question. Hw old does he hav 2 b 2 lift his leg n pee? He hasn't started markin his territory yet!

Marc Spilkintin 06-18-2012 12:55 AM

I live in the US.

Some males will never lift their leg... the time varies. If there isn't another male dog in the household that he will be "competing" with for territory marking, it could take longer. Trust me - be glad he isn't marking yet, because once he does, he'll mark things you won't want him to! lol

Nyc 2 meet u teal. Evn down here pple start hating u for having this breed. I cnt evn count hw many pple hav told me that I'm insane 4 keepin dat dog. 1 mre thing hw will you know when dog to dog aggression (DA) starts showin uP.

Sertvfdnhgjk 06-18-2012 01:12 AM

It shows up at different ages for different dogs. It usually shows up around 2-3 years old but can show up sooner or later. My dog wasn't DA until 5 years but he's definitely the exception. Your best bet is to watch his body language around other dogs and always be prepared to step in, should there be a problem.

Marc Spilkintin 06-18-2012 01:14 AM

Nice to meet you, too, Ashley! Yes, the stigma of owning the breed is something to get used to, unfortunately.

As for DA - It can really occur at any time, though maturity (2-3 years) is when a lot of dogs will start showing it. Do you own other dogs, or does your dog interact with other dogs on a regular basis right now?

newshep 06-18-2012 01:23 AM

Unfortunately no 1 wants 2 socialialize their. Dog with a "pitbull". He gets mre than enough human attention n he loves it mre tho. The reason I'm askin this is coz when I walk him n he sees other dogs ,he make his body stiff n starts whining. He also starts pulling. What does it mean?

Petrushkaukrop 06-18-2012 02:52 AM

That he is a dog? You should train him to ignore other dogs like... redirect his attention. Some dogs just get overly excited when they see other dogs. But since yours hasn't been properly introduced and socialized with them; I'd just go the easy route and just train the dog to ignore them. Human attention is really all he needs.

Marc Spilkintin 06-18-2012 12:19 PM

Well, your dog doesn't need doggie playmates... so that's okay http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Like LovePup said, work on training him to ignore when he sees another dog. Work at home on a "watch me" command, and give LOTS of yummy treats for it... then slowly start incorporating it when you go out for walks. Don't expect it to be perfect outside of the home at first, with so many new distractions http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png
