Default found a dog park nobody hardly uses
found a dog park that is like 5 minute walk from my house that no one hardly ever uses, went there this morning, and we were there 30 minutes before some guy and his friend showed up and we left, he does good around dogs, but he does get rough and i just dont want to take that chance of another dog not being so good or calvin decieded he doesnt like that dog, but they both enjoyed it we are going back tomorrow, and since its a short walk if someone is there we can just head back to the house and try again later, i have passed this park a few times, just never paid attention, i wish i could find a place here in gainesville that i could take my dogs swimming, or at least calvin i think he would like it, meeko probably not so much but calvin would

I have recently started taking my 5 month old pup to the dog park when there's no one or next to no one around also. I know there not good places for our breed to be but he needs an open grass/dirt area to run around in and the small space at my appartment gets old to him sometimes. I always try and stay in my "section" of the park far away from the entrance or where most people tend to hang out and let there dogs frolic. I alway stay close by him and if any other dog approaches me or him I always make sure I'm I between them and can intervene if anything seems awry

It's not just about other dogs and how your dog reacts/acts around them. Dog parks are not good for health reasons because you have no control over or knowledge of what diseased dog has contaminated that area. Since it's a congregation area for dogs it's no good.

Has your pup had all it's parvo shots??? Be aware as parvo could be lurking in public dog parks and you don't want your 5 month old pup to get that or any other health issues.

It's absurd that people insist on risking the health of their dogs so they can have the luxury of taking them to a dog park. Get a thirty foot training lead, go out somewhere open away from town, and you can enjoy freedom with your dog without having to worry about your dog getting sick. Also, MRPOWER, if your dog is a bully is DOES NOT need to be around strange dogs. Especially in a dog park setting. You're taking a risk that could lead to you losing your dog. WHY insist on it? I don't understand.

Actually anywhere you take your dog, you are putting your dog at a health risk if they are not UTD on shots. I take snow to a park not too far from here when it isn't too hot. They hardly get dogs in the park. Actually... The only time I have seen another dog is when I set up a play date with a friend. A lot of people go at a dog park the wrong way and thats when bad things happen. Going when the park isn't packed or when there is no one there is not as risky as going on a high volume day or time. Also keep a tab on your dogs shots and make sure they stay UTD.

Diseases and parasites... fleas... Ick. I wouldn't risk it.

I just break the law, and take my dogs to things like baseball fields and tennis courts if for some reason I want them to run around outside of our property

I've yet to actually have trouble with my dogs being off lead illegally, because they are extensively trained.

There were several times we had cops stop at the tennis court (partly because it was night time, I'm sure), and let us continue with what we were doing. And once time when we were at an elementary school at night. I think cops are just relieved when they get a call at 1 a.m. for "suspicious characters" somewhere random, and it turns out to just be some chicks exercising their well behaved dogs

I do the same thing. If the trail is packed, I go to a skate park around the corner during school hours. The dogs love the half pipes and other stuff there to play on.

I do the same. We have an Elementary school across the street with a soccer field, football field, basketball court and baseball field basically all one big area and the back gate lets out into a wooded area that backs up to a cow pasture and orange grove. Cops have shown their lights on us and then just kept going. I guess making sure we aren't doing any damage or breaking into the school!

My stand by excuse is I'm chasing my dogs b/c they got out the gate! The orange grove owner caught us one time and he just asked if they were all mine and when I said yes, He said I can't handle my one! Well maybe let him come run in your Orange Grove and get rid of some of his energy!

Make sure you are meticulous about picking up after your dogs too. If the piles start to pile up the fun will get stopped.

You dog off leash in public for any reason is a problem waiting to happen, for you and everyone you might possibly come in contact with. Don't be a problem be part of the solution and keep your dogs on a leash when in public or public property at all times.

I know of someone right now paying off a $14,000 judgement because their very friendly and well trained pit bull decided to not like one dog that was being walked on a leash by someone. As usual the pit bull owner is shocked as he never had a problem before and his dog always got along fine with other dogs, loved to play and frolic at the beach. He is still trying to figure what the other dog did to piss off his dog. Funny actually as the other dog was on a leash with its owner. Some people just refuse to learn, and too many other just think the leash law does not apply to their perfectly behaved mongrel.

Funny Atheist, thats exactly how my well trained mutt dog was attacked by a pit bull. Except I was and am still too poor to seek legal recompense for her injuries and that woman's irresponsibility. It took me over a year to pay off Lily's emergency surgery and that was less than 30 seconds of contact.

The dog that attacked Lily was later pts because the owner continued to be irresponsible and was also hot enough to redirect onto her from frustration.

My dogs are very well trained and very friendly. I started following the law and only letting them run off leash on my parent's property (which luckily there is a lot of) because at least if they are leashed to me and I walk them one at a time I can either pick my girls up or have enough hands free to use my breakstick effectively. I'm sorry, I f'ing hate irresponsible people.

he is on a leash when we are out, when we go to the dog park and its fenced then i take him off leash, and we only go there as long as no one is there, i dont care if we are just going right outside to pee, he is always on a leash.

First of all he has all of his shots, I litteraly did not let him off my driveway before he got all if them done. Second of all I know dog parks arnt good environments for our dogs however it's the only place available for him right now to get some real exceresize for now. When my lease Is up and we move a decent size gated yard is a must. I'm constantly looking for better options that don't require a hour plus drive through LA traffic every day but are still fenced/closed off. Third, i always go when there's no one around and on the big dog side of the park so if he does encounter another dog atleast mine will not be able to do any harm considering all the other dogs that would come into that area are twice his size
