Like I've said, I don't hunt anymore. But I still keep my dogs like I do. We mostly work on re-calls and heel work at liberty. I do it for two reason: a) I could NEVER work them on the leash as well as they work themselves running, jumping logs etc b) It's important to me that, God forbid the rare incident happened, I have a fighting chance of getting my dog to come back to me vs. toward another dog, or a rabbit, or in Coppers case.. a deer .

Don't worry, we're not at a public park. It's the land that backs up into a cow pasture. We go very early and she doesn't come off line until we get past the "hiking" areas and to the brushier stuff.

NICE!!! Looks like a nice fun time. Yeah them Palmettos ain't no joke....I've been busted up runnin through them dang things, lol. Plenty of them where I come from too.

I know. Not too bad compared to the ticks, the "stickers" and some of the other crap out there. My other dog is a little Bay dog. She's in the first picture. Mostly white. She "didn't work out" and was given away. But I can't figure out how she didn't.. unless they were completely green at dealing with these dogs. At least you know (which most people I talk to don't "get it") that these dogs need to be kept like they're supposed to be. Whether you hunt or not. For their mental and physical well being.
