Im on a page about saving the pit bulls in Australia. I cant help it whenever I see an anti chaining post or my dog is just a big baby and loves dogs abd animals post. Lol.

AcecePesFeacy 01-07-2012 04:02 PM

I know what ya mean Flatbedder, I join every pit bull related group on facebook that pops up and I see, I typically don't read the posts though because I would be ban from half of them lol...heck I was in a slight argument on why dog parks are bad just yesterday with one of Libby's friends on fb >.< I kept it clean though because I didn't want to be mean http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/biggrin.png

I do read them ellie, because if they claim to be advocates to the breed and still feed false information they are not a group for me.

I agree to say something to these groups when they're providing information that is completely false/myth. Such as 'pit bull' is a breed name. We all know that is false, it's APBT.

But to trip out over an opinion isn't necessary... such as chaining. If people want to be against chaining... who cares. There's a lot of dumb people out there that can't even manage to chain a dog correctly and give them like 1ft leads or chain them to where they'll get tangled.... or leave them on the chain for their entire lives... no food, no water, no shade, no housing.. to heavy of a chain, etc. etc. the list goes on... Then you have people that do it humanely. It's all opinion, and everyone is entitled to have theirs.

Read the dumbest thing on FB (venting)

So apparently after arguing for 2 hours on fb and removing the page from my likes. I am finally cooling off and smiling again. Apparently The term 'Pit Bull' Is now a breed of dog. When did this happen? I thought it was a slang term for American Pit Bull Terrier, not the actual breed. Of course I argued it and finally gave up and said goodbye and left the page. There where others there also telling the page owner the same thing I was and yet the person still defended that his facts where correct and the only right ones.

There is only one correct term for the American Pit bull Terrier and that is APBT. Or at least in my eyes it is.

riverakathy 06-28-2012 10:18 PM

Holy shit ... why has this never been discussed here before ??

oraltyrap 06-28-2012 10:19 PM

why would you spend 2 hours arguing on FB is my question

Carol 06-28-2012 10:20 PM

Because I had nothing else better to do LOL

Helloheshess 06-28-2012 10:24 PM

The idiocy I see daily on FB just makes me want to bury my head in the ground and never come out again lol

realnilkless 06-28-2012 11:27 PM

A lot of people believe that 'pit bull' is only short for the breed APBT.
This is how it used to be back in the day... it was 'pit bull' or 'bulldog'.

But nowadays the majority of the U.S. believes that 'pit bull' is ANY RANDOM muscular, short coated, blocky headed dog.
You can easily tell this by all the news reports involving 'pit bulls' .... Pretty sure all those 'pit bulls' aren't purebred APBTs.

So from what I've learned, if you're old school 'pit bull' is limited to one specific breed, the purebred APBT.
If you're new school, 'pit bull' means ANY random dog that fits into that stereotype and is not limited to one specific breed.

And where I live... 'pit bull' is used by the media and by dumb owners that think they have an APBT but don't understand that there's an actual breed name lol. APBT is used by people that know what they have and not morons.

I beg to differ. Lots of AmBully websites have their blue mutts listed as APBTs.

I meant in my area people only refer to their dogs being APBTs if they actually are.
The rest that own any random muscular, blocky headed, short coated dog call theirs 'pit bulls' thinking they're purebred because they don't know that there's an actual breed name 'American Pit Bull Terrier' and that it takes more than just a name to be purebred.
AmBully isn't even a term here.
It's all pathetic.

Carol 06-29-2012 02:37 AM

I enjoy reading your post Blaze. When I read or hear someone say 'pit bull' I think of those overweight hippo looking dogs that cannot properly breed or breath on their own. A lot of those Ambully sites also refer to their dogs as 'pit bulls' also; not just APBT. I wouldn't have an issue using the term 'pit bull' to refer to the APBT IF that was only what it was. But now days it is such a broad term that you can even use it to mean a mutt! I tried giving examples what the term was like now days. Using Coke as a broad term to mean a carbonated drink or Kleenex to mean tissue. He went about saying those where incorrect terms... Which I went back to 'pit bull' also being an incorrect term. He then went back to saying why it wasn't. I don't know.

k5wTvu9f 06-29-2012 03:42 AM

I argue with them too about it lol. What page was it

Carol 06-29-2012 03:52 AM

Pit Bulls against Misinformation. I uh, Am no longer with that page. LOL

Carol 06-29-2012 03:55 AM

Looks like he removed the entire posting. LOL! What a child.

DoctorWeryDolt 06-29-2012 06:05 AM

When I encounter people who want to label all bully breeds as pit bulls, I first point out that if it wasn't made for the pit it can't possibly be a PIT bull. And to narrow it down even more and simplify it for the idiots, there's only one Pit Bull.

People don't get it. This is how I percieve their train of thought" Labrador Retrievers are called Labs for short. Golden retrievers look a lot like labs and they're similar in personality and closely related. As are chesapeake bay retrievers and curly coated retrievers. And they all end in retriever... oh snap. Let's call 'em all Labs. =D

Makes a lot of sense.

Ive used this same general concept to explain it... of course I only bother explaining it to people who actually want to know the correct information.. I just stress myself out to much trying to educate the stupid on the most basic of concepts lol
