No papers with dog from breeder, is that sketchy and does he look like a mix??
I have had my dog since he was 3 months old, as he's aged he's gotten larger than I expected (about 60 lbs at age of 15 mo) The breeder showed me his dad via picture but didn't have the mother or any pictures of her, but that she was his brothers dong. He never ended up giving me a pic of her, but that's beside the point. He breeds pits to be larger than normal for competitions he said. I was just wondering is it weird that he had no papers for bloodlines and such for my dog, also I will attach pics as soon as I get home of mine and just wondering what you guys think he may have in him? I was told by the breeder there were 3 bloodlines (watchdog, razors edge, and not sure but I wanna say he said Greyline).
Thanks in advance! |
byb in it for the money

Bad Back yard breeder by the sounds of it. Papers are only as good as the breeder is honest. This breeder sounds dishonest.
Not seeing the mom dog is suspect in this case also. Anyone can show you a pic and say "this is your dog's mom". So you have a nice pet dog who is not a APBT, but a mix. |
Sounds like you were scammed by a BYB (back yard breeder which is an irresponsible breeder..) and those bloodlines are not APBT lines they are American Bully. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Razor's edge is an American Bully bloodline, Watchdog is Amstaff ( I believe), and Greyline are pitterstaffish dogs of sorts bred to be overly large for no real reason other than to look "bad" and "Cool"

(For an example) ONLINE PEDIGREES :: [30155] :: WATCHDOG'S BEELZEBUB They were originally nice dogs, but started getting peddled and went into god knows what. |
Thanks for all the responses so far and sorry it took so long for the pics but here they are. Also I know this is going to sound dumb where do people normally get dogs if not from a "byb" or spca for a reasonable price?

Is it sketchy? Of course, all BYBs are sketchy. Is is a mix? Kinda looks like an Am bully mix of sorts.
In reply to where people get dogs from, if not a BYB, its preferred to either rescue from the pound/shelter/rescue or if you want a pure bred to go to a responisble breeder who does health and temperment testing, a kennel... |
BYB's can have kennels too. Those are called puppy mills. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/biggrin.png

he doesn't look like a full bred pit bull to me he has such big jowls, and looking and the bloodlines you say are in him, he defiantly wouldn't be an apbt, but who knows if those bloodlines are even part of him for all you know, the guy found his stud wondering the street and his buddy had a 'pit bull type' female to breed to, and they decided they just wanna make a quick buck. with no ped we'll never know!

Stick around you are sure to see some real nice pure blood APBTs.
|
not one of the dogs in that video is an american pit bull terrier
|
With his jowls and larger size it makes me think there could be some mastiff or American Bulldog in him. Though those breeds are often bred into the American Bullies as well.

Where is Joe showing off Mason when you need him? LOL

mother not availab le when you got the puppy? I know a BYB and he told me he had a mutt around the place(half apbt/half random mix) that got pregnant by one of his apbts and he sold the puppies as full breed since the puppies had the look. he told me that he hid the mother dog when people came to buy puppies. he thought it was funny i did not.
im not the best at looking at dogs and determining breeds but your dog reminds me of this american bulldog I know. |
Not an american bulldog. American Bully.
|
Looking at the sire, surely there's mastiff back in there somewhere.
