Hi, my name is Zelda (A16040322) and I enjoy long walks in the park, neck massages and I’ll sit if you have treats. I still act like a puppy, I am near a year old. I’m a Pit bull terrier mix, but I’m on the smaller side, 30 pounds. ...I am an energetic dog, the perfect dog for someone on the go. The long walks help be burn off that extra energy.

Right now, I’m working on the basics. I know sit very well. Down is alright, I could be better. I’m not much for shake. I get very excited when it’s time for a walk. I can pull a little when I start out, but once I get going, I am about as good a walker as can be. I will stop and sniff the flowers, trees and grass, but can you blame me?

I like the park. I’m able to roll in the grass, sniff all the trees and relax in the shade when I get overheated. I’m not bark happy, I’m fairly quiet. I take treats gently. I’m fine in a crate, as long as there’s toys. I love toys. Tennis balls, kongs, you name it. If we play fetch, I’ll go get the ball, I can’t say I’ll give it back. I have to work on that as well as taking the ball from your hand.

As a puppy, I still need to learn a few things, like fingers aren’t for chewing and when I get really excited, I need to learn to keep my paws on the ground. I can be a great lap dog though. I get along with other dogs, as long as they’re not confrontational. They get me riled up. Also if you have cats, bring So, if you would like to take a look at me and own another dog, have him or her meet me, so we can get to know each other better. Also if you have cats, bring them along to see how we interact. Children under 8 must meet me first as well.

As part of ACCT’s Pen Pal Program, I am working with a volunteer to learn basic commands, get me out of the shelter every so often to keep my sanity and to market me to potential adopters and foster parents. This dog is currently enrolled in the Pen Pal Program at the Animal Care & Control Team (ACCT) of Philadelphia. ACCT is located at 111 W. Hunting Park Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19140. Adoption Hours are Monday-Friday, 1pm-8pm and Saturday-Sunday, 10am-5pm. Foster Care Hours are 9am-6pm every day. Stop by and save a life!
