Default Getting papers for my APBT
I'm not sure if this has been discussed here before but I can't acces all the forum from my phone. But I have a 1.5 Year old APBT that needs to be registered. The people I got her from were "supposed to send her papers"(when she was 11 weeks) and never did. I got too caught up with work and other things never got around to following up with it after a few months of hassling with them. How would I go about getting the papers for her...I've done research and everything seems to be giving me million different answers that I need to do blood tests orlook up her parents etc etc or that it's impossible in that I waited so long. It's not a big deal but I would like to have them just because I was supposed to in the first place.

If you never got them, then you probably won't unless you can still contact the people you got her from.

And FYI, the blood tests are a waste of money.

I have the names of both the mom and dad of her...who both had papers( made sure I at least saw those before getting her and got pictures of the both and the litter, drivers license of the "breeder" before they "moved" and pictures of both of their papers) The entire litter...including the parents died from parvo, luckily and miraculously her being the smallest one she pulled through... But me even knowing the parents name wouldn't do anything in that I didn't have the papers up right since there would really be no way of proving it unless they somehow had blood samples of her parents. I guess it's all just somewhat a common sense thing...just didn't know if there was somehow some way to get around it since I have pictures of it all

If the parents had papers and they were not Hung papers you should have no issues getting your pup registered. Though I think its odd they didn't do the litter when they where born. Be prepared to provide photos. Might be more work then its worth.

If the OP is referring to UKC...If the litter wasn't registered when the puppies were born and they're over (I believe) a year old, they would previously have had to have been single-registered in. APBTs can no longer be single-registered.

As far as I was told, to stop the Bully breeders from using registration loopholes to bring more crossbred dogs into the registry while they dealt with an issue with one of the Bully registries.

Yea, I think they knew the litter and parents had parvo before we got her....she was the runt and getting picked on which is why I chose and snatched her up(full grown gator and she's only about 40 pounds) Papers don't matter much to me because I'm not planning on breeding her. I just didn't know if there was a way for me to get them in that I have documented pictures.

So say she was registered as a pup but they were too lazy to send me the papers since all of them died but mine, how would I go about getting the papers without having anything but the drivers license of the original breeder(if it's not false) and the picture of momma and daddies papers? Even if they were fake...is there no way to get blood tests done to prove bloodline or anything to get papers? I'm not new in owning APBT and have never really cared about the paperwork side of it until i screwed.....but i've never really understood the whole paper process in having them registered and even if you have "full blood" as to why you can't have them registered other then not knowing the background etc etc

You have to have papers from the breeder with the breeders signature on them in order to transfer ownership of the pup/dog and register the pup/dog in your name. I haven't heard of any other way to do it. However, you should contact the registries for clarification and guidance.

Yeah that. Sorry but it sounds like you're SOL.

What registry ARE you trying to get papers through, and why do you want them so badly?

If it's doing stuff you're worried about, there are still tons of things you can do, either with limited registration or with organizations that do't require a registration (Dock dogs, weight pull, frisbee, ect)

Papers are your dogs background, a pedigree is all the dogs in the dogs history. Chances are they never registered the litter or it was through some crap registry anyways, it sounds like your got your dog from a backyard breeder, any reputable one you would have gotten papers with the pup. There's not really any point in worrying about them unless you wanted to show her and the chances of a show quality, possibly breeding quality dog from a byb are pretty much nil. If you know the sire/dams names you can look them up and look up the bloodline/history if you like but most byb dogs are scatterbred, people breeding any dog to their neighbors down the street with no plan or thinking behind it, not going to tell you much if that's the case. You can do any sport but conformation if she is fixed. A bloodtest is not going to show bloodline, what you are finding is probably DNA profiled dogs where the breeder has the sire/ dams dna on file and they can prove the pups are out of those parents.
