Default Pure bred papers
I am purchasing a 9 week purebred SBT pup with pedigree this weekend. What papers and docs should I get with the pup? We will be picking up in USA and bringing back to Canada, are there any specific vaccination papers required to bring the pup across the border into Canada?

How about the health guarantee the breeder promised, is there a standard form for this in the breeding world?

Thanks

Well whatever registry he is through you should get the papers to register him, you will need a vet health check to get him across the border I believe and might need a cert of import, you should contact customs and ask to be sure. Health guarantee should be in the contract between you and the breeder, personally I don't put much stock in them because if you end up with a dog with tons of health problems most go something like you give the dog back and get another, generally people aren't going to do that and wouldn't want another from the same breeder anyways, I would prefer a reputable breeder who health tests for common issues in the breed, someone who is actively breeding to avoid those and will be there for support no matter what.

If there is a health guarantee, check to see that the PARENTS have the health checks typical of that breed....not sure what they are, I think one of them is an ataxia-like disease they can get.

You aren't coming in through Ontario are you? There's a province wide ban there.

yup, the breeder has hip xrays, swabbed sire and dam for L2HGA, pups have 1 set of shots and get booster tomorrow.
I feel bad for ONT, BSL sucks. We are in Vancouver BC

Oh good! Phew! Didn't want you to have to go through that rodeo. Never crossed with a bully. But crossed many times with documented horses. And that was a nightmare.

Sounds like a good one, they will probably have you covered well. Do you have any pics of your pup yet? I would love a stafford someday.

These are the questions you should have been finding out BEFORE you purchased a pup from these people...

As long as he's under 12 weeks you don't need a health record as they only require a rabies shot after 12 weeks to cross the border. I just brought a dane pup from the US to Canada. Be prepared to pay duty on the purchase price, though.
