I'm so sorry. I agree you need to do what is right for you and your family.

I do not think you need any reminders of puppy proofing your home either.

I hope you update us on your decision, best wishes to you and your family!

Hello all,

So we went to meet the puppy on Friday morning and instantly fell in love with him. Very precious and well tempered. My wife and son instantly brought him in to their hearts, but for me the first night was hard. All i could see was my puppy when i looked at him since he is his brother, and was very timid at first with him. Then night went on and I took puppy to visit his brother's grave and I felt that i came to piece with the loss in that moment. Puppy and i are doing great today and it really filled that empty hole in my heart. House is extra puppy proof and we just bought another crate for the kitchen when we make our family meals. I feel that this time will be a great experience and a companion that i will grow old with.

Again thank you for all the support and advice from you all. I really took all the feedback into consideration to better myself and to plan ahead for this new beginning.

Wow he is adorable, glad to hear you decided to adopt the little guy I think he will help you all to move forward and focus on happier things. I lost a youngster once from a tragic illness, and he died in my arms rushing him to the emergency vet, and it was devastating. Following his death I adopted another puppy, and for us it did wonders to help our spirits...although the dog that passed will never be replaced.

I sometimes think that if that tragedy never happened, I would never had known this wonderful dog that we ended up with after....and in some weird way I am thankful at how everything worked out.

Glad you decided to get the new pup. Although a new dog after a recent loss will not erase the pain or replace your last love, they will give your heart something else to focus on. You can still mourn a loss and love something new.

I agree. At no way shape or form do I treat him as a replacement. I take our new boy out to see his brother every evening after dinner. Found a nice tree in our 1 acre pasture to lay him to rest. Every visit brings my spirits up that much more, and gives me the confidence that we will have a long happy life together.
I do the same thing! I lost Zeus just last week. I honestly thought it was way too soon to get another...but once I saw Hercules, I knew it was just meant to be. My heart still aches but I respect Herc for who he is as an individual. I take him out to Zeus's grave often. You were meant to have your new little guy, and how awesome to get one from the same litter. He's gorgeous : ).
