Leo came home from the shelter with it. Honestly didn't hear him cough a single time the two days we visited him but on the way home, Hello!! I was so annoyed. He was 8 weeks at the time. We kept him separated from my other dogs and it took care of itself in a few days.
Hope Krayon feels better soon! It is stressful to have a sick kiddo!

Aw poor Krayon! And what a stressful week for you Kamdon! What a good daddy you are though to take such good care of your boy to stay with him all night and rush him to the expensive vet without a second thought!

I don't bother vaccinating for KC any more... either vaccine protects against limited strains for a limited time.. so it's not worth my time or $$ to vaccinate, when treatment is (9 times out of 10) cheaper. I've gone thru KC w/ my guys only once (KNOCK ON WOOD!), and it wasn't too awful... no worse than a cold for us.

KC is scarey! You just do not ever know what the symptom of uncontrolled couching, retching phlemn, etc really is. I am very glad it is something rather minor.

My first pup got it from my friends EB that frequents the dog park. Asshole! He got over it quick though, my vet called it right away and just gave us a anti-biotic.

Not sure if you're aware but human's can catch it as well. I had it myself. It went away on it's own after a few weeks.

I never vaccinate for KC, my Vet says baby aspirin and Robitussin is all that is needed and most of the time it will go away on it's on. I found this on line Using Dextromethorphan (Robitussin DM) to Treat Kennel Cough Symptoms - VetInfo

Happy to hear your pup is feeling better....

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

He is feeling MUCH better today. He actually started feeling better late yesterday after noon. He even played a bit. Today, he has coughed 2 times. He seems to feel a lot better too.

Vaccinated dogs can pick it up. The vaccine is really only good for I think 7-10 days after they receive it.
Really? That's scary. I always thought it was good up to 6 months. I just had her bordetella vaccine done like a month ago knowing she was going to have to be boarded pretty soon. Kind of scary to hear that it probably won't do any good.

I've only ever known one dog to have Kennel cough and unfortunately she was too old and weak to fight it off.

Yikes!!! Hell of a week for all of you.. Hoping everyone clears and is better soon.. FYI- my vet always told me if vaccinated for kennel cough it just prevents them from being real sick and basically if you didnt treat the cough it would go away on its own.. but having more than one dog you gotta do it.. The water park i bet was the issue.. Had my guys to the lake 4 weeks ago and all three got violently sick that i did same and ran to vet.. Bacteria in there tummys.. Especially Tye was the worst.. i agree on the immune system and being to young.. I wont be visiting water anytime soon again either.. I wish a speedy recovery for the gorgeous baby of yours..
