Default curious
just curious is anyone thinks dogs watch tv

we both swear cheyenne watches tv sometimes. she will be on the couch chewing on her bone and all of a sudden start watching tv. the other day she watched tv the entire time he was in the shower. and i have video of her watching motorcycle racing on the computer, its pretty funny.

some say its because she has really dark eyes, and i mean they are dark.

what does everyone else think? does your dog do the same?

Yup, when I lived in a place that had tv my dogs would watch it!

If a dog came on the screen (even if there were no dog sounds), they'd go nuts haha And any prey items on tv resulted in them all catapulting at the tv. The last time we stayed in a hotel for racing, Zealand saw a tv for the first time and watched that movie X-Men for an hour

Yes they do. My sisters dog likes the nature channel, and bullriding.

Two of my dogs are avid television watchers. They really aren't interested in anything but animal programs though...although once one of them barked furiously at a picture of a face that was in the background of an interview, it was weird. They will also go behind the tv and look around, like they are going to find something.

My other dogs act like the television doesn't even exist, and have never shown interest in it. Maybe they just like different programs?

Bella watches TV, but only when an animal is on. Mollie will "sometimes" see something like a horse or a cow, but in general, she doesn't watch TV. None of the others do, but Bella always sees something if it's an animal.... she is very entertaining.

I agree. Kylie will sometimes. It's random times and random things. She will watch for 15 min or so and go back to whatever she was doing. Gabriel is still to " gotta play, eat, potty and sleep "
Mostly sleep. He's so lazy for a puppy and god awful needy lol

Veronica really doesn't watch TV.

I bought a doggy dvd for her and she did bark at the squirrels and watch for a bit; but other than that she really wasn't interested. But it was also an incredibly boring dvd; from person and dog standpoint both.

I was watching a dvd a few days ago on dog-dog reactivity; and all of a sudden the screen was filled with this dog barking like a maniac and Veronica jumped up from a sound sleep and rushed the tv and barked at it like, "Oh hell NO! Not in my house you don't"!

Piper is obsessed with the TV, and my computer. If I look at pictures of dogs on here she sits and whines.. actually I have a video:

And yeah, TV:

Renee watches TV. The longest I have seen her pay attention to it was about 35 minutes. She'll lay on the couch and watch whatever we're watching. Its funny to see because as she is watching her ears and face twitch in reaction to what she is seeing and hearing. The most awesome Renee and TV moment was when she learned to open the fridge and steal bags of cheese. I found her on the upstairs couch, watching TV and occasionally taking a nibble of cheese from the bag she stole and carried in there.

Trigger would especially take notes when we were watching the dog shows.

No, but seriously, he would follow the dog with his eyes and when it went off the screen he would go look behind the TV to see where it went. LOL

THAT is priceless!!

That needs to be on film!!

I think I wouldn't try to stop her at all; I would keep letting her do it just because it was so damn funny!!

Kady, her whine is adorable! Oh and that other video of Sako makes me love him even more

Sophie (who is deaf for those that aren't aware), first discovered TV when there was a dog on the screen. My TV is mounted about 6ft off the ground. I saw her perk up and before I could even react her front paws were on the stand (under the tv), knocked over the burning candle, a second later she stepped in the wax and her rear leg's were now on the table and front wax covered paws were covering my TV screen in wax
Of coarse we laughed. Now she will keep an eye on the TV as she's chewing her bone. Sometimes when shes too tired for her bone (rare), she'll just lay and watch. She watched a few fuill episodes of "Alaska: The last frontier" with us, but usually just tunes in and out enough to catch what's going on during the show
The only thing we really watch are reality crime shows and a few animal shows. But she watches them all.

I don't remember what this show was and the quality is terrible but I think it's funny when she stands and watches lol

Currently we have a puppy, so no not yet.
However, when I was a child we had a big vicious Belgian Sheepdog. He would lay under the coffee table and watch TV. When any animals (or funny looking people) came on the TV, he would get up and run towards the TV barking and growling (while the table was still on his back). Sometimes he would even check behind the TV.
Man.. it was super funny
