Diesel is fine with the nail clippers, but as soon as the dremel comes out you'd think someone's murdering him. We skip that step now, he hides in his crate when the other dogs are getting dremeled

Rita tolerates nail clipping and loves baths.

Renee struggles and tries to get free, then submits.

Ike acts like you're trying to drown him or something. He fights and struggles as if his life depends on it. He has been banned from a vet office and 2 groomers. We've tried distracting with very high value treats, reassuring, ignoring, verbal correction, various positions, 2 different types of clippers and a dremmel...nothing. He's just a big baby drama queen. I have clipped him with my brother literally laying on his back and holding his paws put front and I have been able to do it recently with my oldest daughter holding him and stuffing cheese in his mouth, but those are the only two times I have ever been able to do it at home since he was a pup.

Owen will actually growl and then bite at you for nail trims. But he has a Petsmart groomer he lets do it with no problems. I warned her he's a jerk about it, then he was a total sweetie just to make me a liar. I managed to do it at home last time, though. Oldest held him, stuffed him full of cheese, he grumbled but he let me do it.

As far as embarrassment, Ike has been the worst. That dog slipped a lead and collar, ran out into the waiting area with 2 groomers chasing him,ran right past me and opened to door. I had to tackle him with half his body out the door to keep him from making the parking lot.

Then there was the time our old vets office tried. They had him on the grooming table to see if that would be easier. 3 vet techs and a vet later, one of the techs came into the room breathing heavy, covered in sweat and Ike fur, with her hair all falling down and her make up sliding down her face to say between pants "How bad do you want his nails done?".

Thing is, I can handle their paws all I want as long as I don't have clippers in my hands. And I have owned Ike, Owen and Renee since they were pups, know for a fact they have never been mistreated or hurt during a trim, and even spent time between needed trims pretending to trim just to keep them used to it and Ike and Owen STILL act like assholes.

Andy is a little punk about everything in general. When I'm dremeling his nails he'll resist until he gets tires himself out, then goes for the passive aggressive approach and collapses on floor-or in my lap if I'm sitting. He hates his ears being cleaned and so far I'm the only one who has been able to get anything in there. He pitched a fit when the vet tried to look in his ears-took three techs to hold him remotely still.

I'm not particularly embarrassed by it. Annoyed? Yes, but I've seen too many dogs soil themselves and try to latch onto anything they could to be embarrassed by my fussy dog.

I'd seriously euth my dog on the spot if it did this over some routine maintenance.

I wish they would, since I'm usually on the receiving end of that. The soiling I can handle since it's usually followed with a bath but we've had some truly evil dogs come through. One little dog in particularly just starts snapping at the air like a piranha before she even sees anything on your hand, and I've lost track of owners who have told me they're afraid to handle their own dogs. Makes no sense.

I've actually never clipped Amy's nails. The place I board her at usually does it for free, so they've been taking care of it.

She LOVES baths. Then again, she loves anything that involves a human touching her.

Try having a dog that screams bloody murder when the vet listens to his heart with a stethoscope....my Minpin Petie, I swear he has canine Fibromyalgia because if you touch him the wrong way, or a leash gets wrapped around a foot among other things he literally freaks out like you are killing him. He's fine when I trim his nails though, strange little man.

My other dogs are all pretty good about nails, EXCEPT my rescue Pin Shadow who I got as a seven year old. She won't let you even touch her feet, and I have given up trying to trim her nails...prefering to take her to the groomer where it takes three people to hold a 12 lb writhing maniac fighting for her life. The best part of her recent teeth cleaning was that when she was out...my vet trimmed her nails up real nice!

Nero is my embarrassment, there's no clipping his nails now, he will try and bite, he was like that when I got him, got it mostly under control and then quicked him, took forever to get him back to where I could clip them all again, quicked him again, he's such a wuss. I got a couple done the other day but it's hard because he is so strong I can't really hold him down and I have to hold his head so he can't think about biting me, his nails are so long it just drives me nuts. We tried to get the vets to do it last year, they had him muzzled and 3-4 people holding him down and he was just spazzing. Ended up putting him under to do it and probably going to do the same from now on. Ripley doesn't like it but I just hold her down and do it anyways, Jersey doesn't like it either but is used to the routine and just acts like I am killing her the whole time. I use clippers though I should try to get them all used to a dremel and see how that goes instead. The worst so far has probably been my little ferret Pandora, last year I wanted a blood glucose run on her and they couldn't get any blood out of her, she bit and peed on them and turned into a little vicious weasel. This year she needed a implant put in so they just knocked her out rather than fight with her and got blood then. And she's all of 1.5 pounds!

I work in a dog grooming shop, so I've seen some dogs that are horrid when it comes to nails.

My dogs are all at the very least tolerable when I do their nails. I don't think I could let them live with me if they didn't accept it.

Lucy has SUPER long quicks, so lately I've been tipping them once a week, and yesterday I took her into work for a bath, so I dremeled her nails down. She wasn't pleased, but she sat there and let me do it while she tried to stick her tongue in my mouth.

Damas's nails don't really grow that much (which I think is weird for a Rottie...). Maybe every 2 or 3 months I'll tip them. But he's not keen on it. Last time I ended up flipping him on his side to do it, and I had to poke him and say "Knock it off" every couple of nails because he kept trying to grumble and wriggle away. But he let me dremel them yesterday after a little struggling.

Ethel gives NO fucks. She got a full groom yesterday, and the worst thing she did was try to lay down on the table and drool all over my stuff.

Taz... eh. He's a weird little fuck, but after a little work he lets me dremel his nails. I haven't had to cut them yet because all the skittering around he does keeps his nails pretty short.

Gabriel could care less. He's just glad to be getting attention. Lol
Kylie on the other hand...😳 is crazy!
She will flip and flop and roll lol. I have to get her on her but lean her back on my chest and lock my legs around her. Even then it's a challenge . Shes is a strong girl and man if she sets going I can't hold her.
I've tried treats and " good girl 😃 "
But nope, not happening.

God, Lucy gets the best "THE GRASS GOT CUT?! FUCK!!" zoomies. Literally an hour of zooming and throwing herself to the ground to roll in the grass over and over and over.

So I was noticing today (it rained this morning) that when I'm cleaning his feet, he's perfectly fine and calm. But the moment I grab those clipper and walk within 3' of him. It's over.

Izzy was good then one day decided that she hated it and had to be pinned down with a muzzle while my bf sat on top of her.
And just like that one day she decided it was ok again and now when she sees the clippers she lays down and rolls on her side (like how we laid her down to hold her) and just lays there till its all done with no fuss.

Solo is a dramatic bitch about it and will bite flail around and be a huge dumb ass even though ive cut his nails since he was a week old.

And Wendy is a angel for everything since she's been getting groomed once a week since she was 8 weeks old.

Sadie is such a drama queen. She loves her feet to be rubbed but bring out the clippers and she runs and hides. Bath time for her is no problem. She see a water hose on outside and she is jumping around running to the water to play.

Bandit loves nail trims as long as he goes last. Any time before that and he freaks out. He is our "princess" because he loves all the attention and to have clothes on, as long as he picks them out. We will put out different little outfits if we are going some where and it never fails, he will pick something pink to wear. He is our fruit loop lol. Hates bath time because he has to be still but once he gets soapy he kinda likes it because he gets a massage lol

Bella hates nail trims and will try to bite, scratch, whatever it takes to get away. When we got her she was missing 2 toes on her back foot. The vet doesn't know if she might have been born that way or if she was injured when she was little. We got her at 2 years old. She hates her feet to be messed with at all. Bath time she tolerates. She has it figured out if she stands still it gets over quicker.

Ares hates nail trims and baths. He can't stand his feet to be touched for any reason. We have tried to do it when he was asleep and he woke up screaming bloody murder. Bath time is the same way. Our neighbors came over the last time we gave him a bath because they thought he was hurt. Screaming, whining, and flat out throwing a full hissy fit! For only being4 months old and 32lbs. he is a handful.

Mikey use to scream and holler and bite but now he just sits there.

Dakota's a breeze, if he pulls back at all then I know I cut too close.

The hardest part with Alice is getting her to slow down, she doesn't like to stay in one spot for long when you're around. So I have my grandmother rub her belly while I clip her toes. She's got some long quicks too, it's a pain in the butt.
