Has anyone here had success with training their cat(s) to use the toilet, like in the ads?
Ok, I admit, I recently flew and was perusing the Skymall catalog, and saw the training system there, and with the summer humidity on us, I just can't stand the cat litter any more. Just wondering if it actually works. |

My sister bought that kit for me for my birthday a few years ago. I haven't used it, it's still in my office where she shipped it. Every once in a while, someone catches a glimpse of it and asks me why I have a toilet seat in my office, and I think about giving it a go, yet I haven't. I'll be interested to hear if anyone has had success with it as well.

CitiKitty Cat Toilet Training Kit® - Official Store | Save Over $2,000! No more kitty litter with CitiKitty - Say bye-bye litter box!
This young lady, from the 'burbs (They said 'Yardley' on Shark Tank, I've heard other reports say Morrisville; tomato - tomaHto, whatever) came up with this a while ago. If you youtube it, you can find a way to do it for just a few bucks, but for those that have followed directions, it seems to work quite well, regardless of the cat's age. I'm considering myself once the cat settles in to the new place; she still hasn't gone past the 2nd floor (and we have 4). |

I bought the Litter Kwitter and it took some real dedication, but was definitely working. But then we had a setback (the bathroom we were using was "invaded" by an outsider and our cat subsequently rejected it). I always planned to start over again from our master bathroom, where we have more control of who goes in/out, but then we got another cat, and then I never got around to it... I can say it was going well enough that, if my situation changed (I had the time/space to devote to it again), I'd definitely go for it.
If you go on YouTube you will find a gazillion videos of success stories, and there's even a Yahoo Group I joined for a while to share trials and tribulations. ETA: I'm sure it takes a very special cat for this, but my favorite success story was one where the cat "got" what a toilet of any sort was for and the owners were able to travel and even stay in hotel rooms and their kitty would always do her thing in the right place no matter where they went. PS If you're concerned about conserving water, best not to teach 'em how to flush though... |
