Yes, maybe. He looks like a typical Amstaff, but there's no way to know for sure as mentioned.

He is a good looking dog. I'd call him a bull breed mix.

What leads me to believe he's a Staff is his half pinched ears and water pump tail. Lol that's what they look like:-)

Trying to figure age out. His teeth are very white and have no decay or anything not even the back teeth. Probably a year old or less. I know there are ways to tell by teeth i'm just taking a guess at it.

Anyone know about the teeth age scale?

Makes more sense... I've just never heard that term used to describe a tail.
It's actually used in the AKC standard for the SBT:

It should not curl much and may be likened to an old-fashioned pump handle.

Those aren't indicators. By "water pump tail" do you mean an otter tail? Otter tail would make me think Ambulldog influence.

Default Maybe a AmStaff?
My daughter recently took in a homeless dog off the street and gave to us.
Last time I had a American Staffordshire Terrier was many years back. It appears to be a Pure breed AmStaff but guess i'll never know for sure since it was found on the street.
He is under nourished and has a skin problem on his back and tail where it meets his back.

As thier personality is he loves my son attached to him quickly. We are working on getting him healthy and hopefully be able to keep him if we can not find the owner.

Here's his picture we call him Sammy.

He appears to be a pure breed Amstaff or I could be wrong i'm guessing someone here would know better than myself. He is well behaved plays frisbee so I am quite sure he was loved at one point until he ended up on the streets.

No way to tell for sure really without papers, and besides Amstaffs and UKC Style APBTs are pretty much impossible tell apart without papers anyway.

I'm just call 'em a "Pit Bull mix" (as a general encompassing term for bully breeds... I hate that it's become such, but.. sigh)

Even if you DNA test the dog and it was pure bred. You would never know it as in it would show up with all the dog types necessary to make that breed....

IE - Jack Russel and so on..

He's CUTE. He looks like an oversized Staffie, haha. What a doll. I wanna squeeze his cheeks. He's definitely a bully of some sort. Is the spot at the base of his tail red? Like a hot spot? That's a very popular place for them. Check him for fleas as well. Common culprits of a dog gnawing the fur off his skin. Good luck! =)

Looks Amstaff or standard type American bulldog. Nice looking dog!! . Or a mix of both or something else. I guess you will never know. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/3b/American_bulldog.jpg/469px-American_bulldog.jpg

Take him to the vet to see if he has a micro chip, someone may be looking for him. If he doesn't have one, while there get him checked out, up to date on vacs and they'll give you an estimate of how old he is.
