Default is she/he really a pit bull??
Not sure if Im posting in the right thread....hopefully I am!. I have a 6 week puppy that was from a lady looking to find 2 puppies a home. SHe said she took them from someone that was mistreating them. Then she realized she couldnt keep them so she was looking for a home. They are brother and sister. I think we have decieded to keep the female. I was just curious if they were really pit bulls and if they are what kind are they. I didnt know if anyone could tell by just a picture. Thanks soo much!! By the way they are both the sweetest little puppies! The white one is the female ...brown one is male.

No one can tell you for sure with out paper work. However as far as I know merle is NOT a color in bully breeds (please correct me if I'm wrong) so they can NOT be pure bred. They might be catahoula x bully mixes. I know they're becoming popular around here for hog dogs.

Looks like it COULD be a pit mix. Impossible to tell with pups that young. She will require A LOT more training and patience ..she let the litter too early.

You're right. Merle is not an accepted coat color.

Is it even able to happen in bullies?

a few biased people claim it can, but it is NOT accepted regardless.

They look like Aussie mixes (and not because of the colour). ANY 6 week old puppy at first glance is going to look like a bully breed... they all have big heads! lol

The merle pup looks cat like to me, dunno about the other.

Won't have a decent ability to judge until they're older, and will never know for sure without papers.

The puppies can have multiple fathers, the one brown one looks like a lab x.
The other maybe catahoula mix.

j.shulze your dog looks like it has Am.bulldog in it.

I have an aussie cattle dog/golden retriever mix and EVERYONE thought she was a pit bull until she was almost 2 years old. I don't know why because I never thought she looked like one but people kept insisting she was part pit bull. Her head wasn't even that big, and her nose is longer and skinnier than a pit. The white puppy does kinda look a little like my waffles when she was a pup, but like I said her nose was skinnier.

Like others have said...those are not pure pit bulls. They MAY have a touch in them somewhere, but honestly if they do, not much. They look like the typical (what I call) red-neck mutts. Look like hound/catahoula to me.

BTW-- I'm one of the ones that believes merle CAN show up in a pure bred pit bull. Whether it's accepted or not doesn't mean it can't happen. Merle great danes aren't accepted either, but exist nonetheless. Same with white boxers and labs with white markings, etc.
