So those of you who remember me, may know that i'm a vet tech, and it makes me very sad sometimes to see the bully breeds and the owners they belong to, who shouldn't have the dogs to begin with.
The other day someone came in, and on the paper it said American Staffordshire terrier so i got to bring the dog back and i said he was a very cute Am staff, the owner turns looks at me (very insulted) and says "HE'S NOT AN AMSTAFF HE'S A PIT BULL" (meanwhile im looking at the pup and thinking err looks more amstaff to me) but i just said oh i'm sorry, and that i only called the dog an amstaff because that's what we have in the record, and than the guy goes, "Ahh well i don't know, the breeder i got the dog from sometimes puts apbt on their papers and sometimes ast " at that point in my head im just like ohhhh well than if you dont even know for yourself its a pit bull or not why are you getting worked up about me calling it an amstaff? and when hes in the room for his exam, he just keeps talking about how bull terriers, amstaffs, and pit bulls are all the same breed, and that he cant wait to get his hands on a big blue nose with a big head cause he wants to breed his dog (the dog is only 9 weeks old, he doesn't even know for sure what it's breed is and he's thinking about breeding it?). and uhh it just frustrates me, all the time the majority of "Bully breed" owners that come in have no clue what they're doing, and they're all so ready to bring more mutt dogs into the world! |

As I was leaving Petsmart the other day (without my dog, I won't bring her there) and this idiot gets out of his car with his girlfriend and two bullies. The dogs have these huge anchor chains around their necks and they are pulling like crazy and the owners have zero control over them. These are the people that ruin the image of the breed & are the reason my dog stays at home when I shop.
People that buy ANY type of dog and say they are going to breed it drive me crazy. |

I donno what I hate more stupid owners like that or stupid vet techs (NOT YOU) that work at my vet, there is one that always comments "I have 2 big blue pitbulls...its all in how you raise them...." and then a dog walks in the waiting room and Goren goes nuts...fun times, either way one even comments they breed there mutts its really aggravating to me, but I love my vet so what can a girl do

I don't mean to sound ignorant but I tend to say "It's all how you raise them" as well. I don't mean "Oh if you raise your dog nicely all instincts will be forgotten. It won't fight, it won't be aggressive blah blah blah"... But I do think if you get a dog from a puppy and you treat it right and socialize it correctly (get it used to seeing other dogs on the street without it choking it's self trying to go for the kill) and with proper training, it will turn out to be a lot better than a dog that is constantly chained (not that I'm against chaining) with no interaction other than being yelled at or hit. When people say "It's all how you raise them" I try not to look too deeply into it. For all I know they mean it the same way I do.
