I would name it "Cyclops"
cute dog. Looks like a bully mutt to me. |
Whatever it is, it looks like its missing and eye and looks like it went through some shit and came out on top. Props to that dog, I hope it finds a good home.
What's there to be so butt hurt about? |
Ya, I can see Staffy as well. The head looks a bit odd in the first pic. The dog could be a Staffy x Shar pei or a very badly bred purebred Staffy.
|
I don't know what it is, but I do know it needs a bad ass pirate style eye patch.
LOL,right on. |
I'm with Teal on this one.

I know a few people involved in rescue here and they try their best to get "banned" pit bull types to good homes, out of province if at all possible. I mean, I've said this before here, as strict as the legislation is, there are many towns here in Ontario that are hardly affected by it. I see pit bull type dogs everyday walked unmuzzled, or clearly younger than ~6 years old, as do all of the police and by-law officers, I've yet to hear of any one cracking down on it. Not saying anyone *should* break the law of course, just that if dogs are well cared for, are kept responsibly and aren't being a menace to society even law enforcement turns a blind eye (no pun intended!) to BSL. At least that's my experience. I'm not a dog breed guesser but he could have Staffy in him, I don't think that's shooting far off the mark. We all know how hard it is to guess a dog's breed. Is the person that labelled this dog the same person that told you to muzzle your dog? "Rescue", when it comes to the people involved is a very broad term. Rescues can have a wide variety of people helping out, from reputable trainers/behaviourists, to kids co-op'ing, to people who "just loves dogs", people who actually know dogs, etc etc. As frustrating as I find some rescue organizations, I would find it hard to be angry with them over giving this dog the best possible chance at living the rest of its years out peacefully (as opposed to be PTS or kenneled in a rescue it's remaining years because of BSL). |
Havnt seen it in person, I just am not a huge fan of the rescue and if they are labeling a SBT mix as something thats legal in Ont. it just makes me wonder.
Especially since they told me I need to muzzle my Kelpie x that looked nothing like a APBT or mix and told my mom to muzzle her perfectly legal EBT because they look like pit bulls? |
Who knows.
Have you seen the dog in person? Shar pei mixes can have some pretty crazy coat texture. He has some loose skin/wrinkles and looks like skin problems/swollen feet, just like a shar pei http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png |
I wouldn't know a good stafford if I tripped over one, but I kinda like that guy. He's got a scrappy sort of look to him.
|
Looks like it COULD BE a fugly bred bull & terrier (likely with no purebred dog in the ped) and possibly mixed with something else. Want to say Shar Pei? ... I'm okay with that ... but Shar Pei is rare around here and the likelihood of that is very low ... Don't know about 3 thousand miles away in Canada.
Only the very best of wishes for the poor dog in finding a good forever home !!! That would be nice. |
I don't know what it is, but I do know it needs a bad ass pirate style eye patch.

I just find it funny that such a rescue would be so hypocritical. |
perhaps his head looks a funny shape due to the incident in which he lost the eye.
possibly a run in with a car. |

Heck if she can find a good home and fly under the radar as an EBD X Sharpei then all the power to her. After reading that story about her tough years of neglect that poor girl NEEDS some creative marketing and I don't think it's hypocritical.....that is, if she really is subject to BSL at all.
Too bad she isn't a male though....cuz I would go with a bad-ass eyepatch and call him Popeye for sure. |
Looks like your run of the mill generic "pit bull" to me. Could be a SBT or mix but who knows. Ladies, stop being bitchy. I'm here now....http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/cool.png

I thought Ontario as BSL against SBT and that would explain any aversion to calling it such...but I agree with Teal, looks like a Shar-Pei mix to me.
|
Bullies in Need is crossposting the dog, they don't label or id such dogs, whatever shelter has her did and that dog doesn't look anything like a staffy bull. I would probably list her as a pit bull mix just in case but staffy? Don't see it.
Her back story InsideHalton Article: Emaciated dog found in garage |
I'm in a bitchy mood tonight so I'm not going to really say anything further, other than, who gives 2 craps about what they want to call this dog? Let this damn dog get a home and wipe your hands of it and move on with your life. How does this directly affect your life? Does this directly alter your current state of affairs? What are the consequences of this to you directly? Are the answers to these questions "it doesn't, no, nothing"? Because they should be. Let it go. /bitchfest
