if this was true dade county wouldnt have a breed ban against pit bulls.
I be on the phone.
Actually, it's true

The Miami-Dade ban passed and then the state made breed bans illegal. Miami-Dade got grandfathered in.

What MJJean said. I've lived in Florida my entire life. Was born and raised in West Palm Beach. Just moved back to central Florida from West Palm Beach. I know what I'm talking about when it comes to Florida's dog ownership laws.

Anywho, I wouldn't chance it either. I would just re-home him. Sounds like the responsible thing to do.

This definitely tops the list of stupidest things you've ever said...

I Believe you two live on trying to start arguments. ^^ Nothing wrong with what I told him. I gave him my two cents. Just because My Opinion is different then yours doesn't make it stupid.

The guy already said he'd rather not get rid of his dog if he can help it. Obviously he can by not moving to that county. Then you say that Florida is "odd" but don't have any reasons to back it up.

I thought the OP was a female. Lol also, that'd be like me getting rid of my dog because most of the cities around me have breed bans. That's the reason people move to cities that DON'T have them, to keep their pets. There are only about 4 cities left in the KC metro area that don't have breed bans, but the responsible owners of the breed live in the cities that allow them.

Default I need someones help...
I have a puppy named Thor he is five months old. We got him when he was only four weeks old, a older man told my brother in-law that he was giving away Pitbull puppies. Found out later on from my husband after he had picked up Thor that the man actually said that if he didn't get rid of all the puppies that he was gonna go out back and shoot them naturally being a dog lover i wasn't gonna stand for that so I told my husband to have his brother go back and pick up the rest of the babies. They later took them to the local Walmart and gave them away to what i pray were good homes. Well of course Thor is an amazing pup but he is also Merle which i can care less if he was one legged id love him regardless, but as he got older i noticed that he isn't built like a pitbull dog. Now i don't know if he is mixed with anything cause i wasn't there to meet the mother and father. But i did ask my vet and she stated that she wouldn't be 100% sure without his papers but he didn't come with any... but anyways as he's gotten older his ears have remained floppy cause i choose not to cut them and his tail (his Whipping stick) is still long. Well I was talking to my girlfriend today and she mentioned the Catahoula Leopard dog which honestly i knew nothing about.. well they look like my Thor and now Im more confused then ever! So i decided to come on here in hopes that someone might be able to help me. I have posted pictures of Thor Both the First day we got him and of him now..I would really appreciate the help! And thank you in advanced!

Your vet is right. Without papers from a RESPONSIBLE breeder, you'll never know for sure. Now obviously, the man you got Thor from wasn't responsible or reliable. In all honesty though, his color is very similar to a Catahoula and I would call him a Catahoula mix.

Catahoulas are cur dogs, and I don't mean that in the insult way. I mean that they are honest to goodness curs, made to work and hunt and do about any job you ask. That means that they want to go, go, go all the time so if that's what he turns out to be exercise will be your friend. That one's got spots like a Cat, but the head and ears say bulldog to me.

Where are you located? In some parts of the country "Catahoula Bulldogs" are very common mixes. I wouldn't doubt if your pup was one!

Thats what I was thinking with the coat and head shape. Saying a Catahoula bulldog mix is your best bet.

Hey Everyone, thanks for all of your input, I guess the only reason i really need to know is because i will be moving back to Fl in a couple of months and my job requires me to move to Miami-Dade county where im sure most of you know Pitbulls are banned =(. But As of right now i live in Fayetteville NC. Its a good thing if he turns out to not be Pitbull cause that means that I can keep him and not have to give him to my Father in law!

Sitting down he is about 3 feet he towers a little over my 4 year old as for his weight last time we checked he weighed close to 60lbs, that was about a month or so now.

Definitely sounds like a Catahoula Bulldog. I would call him a Catahoula mix and ONLY a Catahoula mix when you get to Miami-Dade county... Even then, you may have problems. They are REALLY not nice about it down there...

No they are not! Thanks again guys! Hopefully one day the ban will be lifted and we can get ourselves a pitbull friend for Thor!
