Nor would I... Is there any way you can live in a surrounding suburb of the city or something? Usually only city jobs require you to live in a specific city, which it sounds like that's what your job will be...

Then I wouldn't risk moving into DADE county. The last thing you need is for someone to *think* he is a pit bull and call AC. That wouldn't end well for you or your pup

Yup. I's start looking for rentals that are dog friendly outside of Miami-Dade. You might end up having to drive a bit longer to work, but you'd be able to keep your dog and he'd be safe from that stupid ban.

It doesn't matter what SHE thinks her dog is. All it takes is one jackass who *thinks* it's a pit bull and to call AC it is soooo not worth it.

exactly. "Looks like a pit bull" = a pit bull in a lot of places.

He's insanely cute.

No the started to but it was sent back and dropped.

Anywho, I wouldn't chance it either. I would just re-home him. Sounds like the responsible thing to do. As said; you don't want someone to suspect and call AC. They will take him regardless what you say. They are so against pit bulls down there that IF the dog is even suspected to be its gone. Unless proven not to be with papers.

Why would the OP rehome him if he's willing to live outside of Dade County?

To be on the safe side. I don't know what the laws are in FL including owning a pit bull type dog as a hole. If he lives outside Dade County that means he'll/She'll live in another County which also might ban pit bulls. FL is a very .. um odd state.

Plenty of members live in Florida without issues. But if you're worried about other counties and cities creating the same bans, then maybe you just shouldn't own a controversial breed to begin with. There is always that chance no matter where you live.

APBT's can come in merle, it's not preferred and I believe considered a serious fault considering the health issues

The ban repeal did NOT pass.

Also Florida isn't an odd state when it comes to dog ownership laws. It's one of the few states that prohibits towns and counties from banning or passing breed specific laws.

Don't move to Dade county and you're fine. That also includes Homestead and Aventura, people don't realize those cute little suburbs are part of Miami Dade. You're best off moving to Ft. Lauderdale.

Miami Dade Animal Services is not a place you want your dog ending up. Distemper and parvovirus outbreaks are pretty common place there. They are also well known for confiscating purebred papered Boxers and making the owners jump through hoops to get them back.
