Good sentinel replacement?
I currently live in florida (enough said)So I've had stryker on frontline and heartgaurd he also gets a flea shampoo bath once a week, but lately we've had stray cats running through the yard and it appears they're bringing more of their little friendshttp://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/mad.png. I picked 4 or 5 fleas off him last night, I looked through past threads and sentinel was recommended but when I went to go purchase it there currently is a halt in production so is there another alternative that works as well for heartworm and fleas?

There's a new one out called Trifexis (sp?). It's Interceptor and Comfortis (monthly flea killer, not flea birth control like what's in Sentinel).
You may also want to have your yard treated by an exterminator (with something animal safe), or buy a bunch of food grade Diatomaceous Earth and apply that to your yard. |

I saw the trifexis on petmeds but the reviews were scary all the way from seizures to diarrhea and dogs almost dieing |
Why are you using flea shampoo and why are you using it once a week? No topical flea and tick preventative will stay on with that kind of washing, especially with such a stripping agent.
FYI, if you buy your frontline from a vet, and document that you've used it consecutively for 3 months, and you still have fleas, Merial will come out (once) and exterminate your home. |
I added the flea shampoo because its like the frontline didnt even phase them theyre like mutant fleas!

I live in Florida as well. Many owners are doing away with Frontline; it just doesn't seem to be working down here anymore.

I live in FL. I spray the yard monthly with Bayer Tree and Shrub spray. Small dogs get Comfortis and big dogs get Advantix. We use Diatamaceous Earth indoors along baseboards and on mattresses, couches, and dog beds. We have no carpet. When using Frontline, we still had fleas. After the first month, I had to reapply after 3 weeks, but after that we've been fine doing it every 4-6 weeks. You need to break the life cycle.
