No clue what he is, but if he's stranger friendly I'd give him some lovins and let him slobber all over me
Thankfully he doesn't really slobber or drool... he will when he's hot but otherwise, nope. He's got good instincts though - there was a chap once going around asking for donations for some cause. Snaps took one look at him and hair went right up, growled [he has one heck of a growl], and the guy took off.... turned out the person was using his "donations" idea as a means of seeing whom was at home during the daytime and who wasn't [there was two break ins before he was caught by the cops].

I have had a couple incidents over the years that are similar. It's sort of a joke of mine that when I watch shows like Criminal Minds I scream at the tv "You wouldn't be getting murdered right now if you had a decent dog!"

If my dogs don't like someone I don't let that person anywhere near my house or my kids.

Heh, don't worry.. I have the most non-working, zero-drive Dogo so I'm not offended at all.
You're lucky then, I heard some stories [seen one in action] about how prey driven these guys can go.

Mastiff? I guess for his size but when I think of mastiff I think of oversized dogs with not a lot of smarts and which can't do a real day's work [no insult to any mastiff lovers] unless you're talking Corso or Dogo. Snaps can go if I didn't stop him dawn to dusk. His weight, right there 115-120 lbs... so yeah he's a big comfortable size.
That's unfortunate that you think that because mastiffs can be good working dogs if bred and trained properly.

Default So What is he?
I hunt hogs usually with hounds until my neighbour came banging on my door with this oversized pup looking to make use of my own bitch dog - knowing my lurcher [Wolfhound x Collie], Gingersnaps, had had her litter and the mother had abandoned her lot. He was the only survivor.

Now my neighbour gave him up to me [and his other dogs to others] before moving entirely out of the area. He said the parents with ADBA registered but I take that with a grain of salt.

But figured where better to ask?

Holy massive dog! I'd lean toward him being more mastiff than bully. How much does he weigh?

Working dog!!!
Oh yes. A monster with enough guts to get up and keep going after he got run down and trampled on by a 350lb hog when it saw an opening [novice hound backed down too early]... some bad scratches but no broken bones thankfully as the pig didn't wait, just kept running. He's also worked bear and cat.

I'd lean toward him being more mastiff than bully. How much does he weigh?

I was thinking bandog myself but can't help but think of want-to-be gangsters with oversized "American" bandogs that look like they don't have two cents to rub together [man and beast].

As I said, I meant no offense but when I think of mastiffs I get the pampered pets of people who bought the dogs only because they are big and intimidating. I've seen a handful of working mastiffs but as a person whom hunts I prefer Dogos and Corsos in the Molosser group.
