Do you have any standing pics of Tep? His face looks more APBT to me but him sitting like that gives his body a funky look.

Looks aren't everything. I would have to meet the dogs I think. They look quite similar to me in those pictures, except for the color. I do like a dog that's a bit of a challenge ... so long as it's not HA. On the other hand, with a ped, at least you have some idea about how the dog will be health wise. Regardless, "A good dog is where you find it"

They both look like amstaffs to me, Omega looks a bit cow-hocked, and Tep isn't standing so I can't compare between the two since one is standing and one is sitting. But that's just my appraisal of the pictures.

I chose NEITHER because they are both good looking dogs and it would come down to a matter of personality for me.

Omega does look a lot like an AmStaff or UKC "APBT".

Both are cute. But, if I HAD to choose, I'd say I like the look of Omega better.

What? I insulted you? By calling your dog an amstaff? I'm sorry, I didn't realize that was insulting. In fact, I think it's pretty insulting to the people that own amstaffs that you think it's insulting.

Secondly, it doesn't matter how the dog moves. Cow-hocked is cow-hocked. No dog's perfect, my dog's cow-hocked and toes out a little, just the way it is. You wanted opinions, you're getting them.

This. I agree with everything in Lili's first post.

Omega DOES look like an Am Staff, and IS cow hocked. But, he's a good lookin bully dog.

I wouldn't be insulted that people don't think Tep is the wellbred dog. I know of two APBTs with incredibly awesome pedigrees that the public would swear are a labrador puppy and a rottweiler mix.

YOU know what you have. Why does it matter what anyone else thinks?

Default So Who Looks Better
I'm just curious as to others' thoughts.

I've got two males. Omega whom is a BYB dog and Imhotep [aka Tep] who is a pedigreed dog out of my father's yard.

I love them both even if Omega is quite a bit dog aggressive [most certainly not for a beginner to the breed] and Tep is starting to show the trait.

You don't have to post, I'll made a poll for votes.

Omega is the lighter bigger headed male - 5 years
Tep is the chocolate & white male - 2 1/2 years.

He's a "chocolate" red nose as some would say. Coffee coloured. And thanks...

Oh and I know looks aren't everything - if I thought otherise I'd have never adopted Bella [white, deaf, pit mix] I'm just trying to understand something people say when they see my boys.

Are you trying to figure out who looks cooler?
Not quite I'm trying to figure out why people used to say Omega looks more APBT / pit than Tep. Is it because he's bigger / sturdier? Or his head's girth? Personally as they're two different ages I could never figure it out... I guess you could say it's irked me a bit [pride issue, the BYB been better than my pop's dog].

And yeah they're both good dogs - got their quirks, who's doesn't? - but I've had Tep since he was 8 weeks and Omega since he was 3 - 3 1/2 and they are both obedience [I didn't / don't let them get away with much]. I tried letting Omega's conditioning go to see if it'd mellow him a bit but as you can see he's still muscular and if anything he went worst.

Like I said originally I don't care either way, it's just always been on my mind what's the "trait" that peope see which distinguish Omega over Tep.

Gods... I said in the first bit Tep's dog aggressive [serves me right for posting these dogs together]... he's not. Thank god

I can't really tell from the pictures. Get 'em in shape and stack them, and I'd have an easier time. I like Tep better. I like pit bulls that lean a little more toward the terrier side than the bulldog side in looks.

That's your answer right there, most non pit bull people think APBT are larger and big headed. All of my dogs are byb mutts, but the newest is a girl with a big noggin, enough loose skin to make another dog, she's thick and huge, but everybody thinks she's just a great looking "pit" even though she isn't at all. My male has a nice imo terrier looking head, lean build, very athletic, people think he's a damn greyhound or something.

Hey, if you don't like Tep you can always send him up to me.. I have a soft spot for chocolates lol

Personally like Tep better as well, besides color I dislike the stereotyped ''pit bull'' image which is what Omega is. It drives me nuts because that stereotype isn't a true APBT. Personal opinion.

Theyre both soo cute! I like Teps look better. And the other posts are right.. People probably assume Omega is the "pit bull" because the general public doesnt know what a true APBT looks like

Both are nice dogs, both look very similar. It doesn't matter who looks better. If the dog is a good dog, who cares if he doesn't look as "cool" as the other... Are you trying to figure out who looks cooler? I don't understand the whole question. If one is more pretty but is a serious pain in the ass and not friendly, then looks are NOTHING.

Right Tep is an Amstaff - last time I checked aren't those the watered down verison - so as it is please don't insult without knowing me. His mother is a hog dog and so too are his brothers. Oh and Omega isn't cow-hocked its the way he stands, he moves quite nicely [lot better than most "pits" I saw in Jersay].

I love the color on Omega, he is a looker for sure, but I love the look of Tep as well. They are both very nice looking dogs and have great markings and colors.

I cant tell to much from the pictures, what color exactly is Tep? Looks like a deep brown kind of, hard for me to tell because I am not sober really lol

Tep is out of my father's yard, and he's not a BYB thank you [he did his research and took what his father taught him]. I've been thinking of conditioning him seeing as his mother is from Nigerino on her father's side out of a Chinaman dog while his father's Jeep. I've got to find his pedigree as though I've been in my own house for almost four months I still haven't really unpacked - too, too much junk. When I do, I'll post it.

Ok, I understand now. I think someone answered it in the meantime, but I think people's opinions on your dogs are based off their general lack of knowledge for this breed, or it could be due to their taste in builds. If you ask the same poll of bully people, more would say Omega is the better looking one. If you ask performance dog fanciers, they're going to say Tep because he's built more like the working dogs. (except being a tad flabby lol) I don't know the actual size of these dogs, but I'm guessing Omega is around 65-70 lbs, and Tep maybe around 55-60lbs?

Right Tep is an Amstaff - last time I checked aren't those the watered down verison - so as it is please don't insult without knowing me. His mother is a hog dog and so too are his brothers. Wait, Tep IS or ISN'T an AmStaff? The name AmStaff isn't an insult, they're just bred for different reasons than most APBTs.

Omega might move well, but you can tell in a standing position, he's cow-hocked. A purebred, papered dog can still have faults, and an unpapered mutt could have world's best conformation.
