Default So Who Looks Better
I'm just curious as to others' thoughts.

I've got two males. Omega whom is a BYB dog and Imhotep [aka Tep] who is a pedigreed dog out of my father's yard.

I love them both even if Omega is quite a bit dog aggressive [most certainly not for a beginner to the breed] and Tep is starting to show the trait.

You don't have to post, I'll made a poll for votes.

Omega is the lighter bigger headed male - 5 years
Tep is the chocolate & white male - 2 1/2 years.

I love the color on Omega, he is a looker for sure, but I love the look of Tep as well. They are both very nice looking dogs and have great markings and colors.

I cant tell to much from the pictures, what color exactly is Tep? Looks like a deep brown kind of, hard for me to tell because I am not sober really lol

Looks aren't everything. I would have to meet the dogs I think. They look quite similar to me in those pictures, except for the color. I do like a dog that's a bit of a challenge ... so long as it's not HA. On the other hand, with a ped, at least you have some idea about how the dog will be health wise. Regardless, "A good dog is where you find it"

He's a "chocolate" red nose as some would say. Coffee coloured. And thanks...

Oh and I know looks aren't everything - if I thought otherise I'd have never adopted Bella [white, deaf, pit mix] I'm just trying to understand something people say when they see my boys.

Well mind you this was in Jersay before I moved back south.

Omega - some people say he's the pedigreed dog, Tep is the mutt. Omega looks friendly [I think it's cause of his big head and droopy eyes] and he's more standoffish. Tep loves kids.

I keep both males on muzzle but Omega is in harness and a double thick collar while Tep has a harness, collar and the "choke" he has in the photos so Tep's the dog-killer and Omega [who would probably kill if I wasn't in control] is the dog to be arond.

That is very true Joe, but I think he was just asking first impressions based on looks. I might not like either, or might love them both based on personality and such, but you cant really tell any of that by pictures alone..

I dont get why they both cant "be around" just because one is severely DA though.. unless I misread..

I think I misspoke a tad. Omega is dog aggressive but I am well aware of what sets him off - having grown up amongst my dad's yard dogs - and I usually keep him muzzled for those reasons [also crate & rotate]. I walk the dogs in two sets, Omega by himself as he is sturdier than Tep and I don't want to try wrestling two dogs into behaviour & then Tep and Bella together.

Now the reason why I was curious is because in Jersay - fortunate enough my grandmother had a house so no arguing with landlords, etc - one of the neighbours always had compliments for Omega which as I said is DA and sturdier, and also a bit slower "upstairs" [brain] then Tep while Tep is meant for more stamina, speed, agility and brains but to the neighbours he was the want-to-be pit.

I really didn't read much into it cause I think the chap was a want-to-be gangster / thug... but was just curious I guess if there was some truth. As in which dog is more appealing / pittish.

Tep is out of my father's yard, and he's not a BYB thank you [he did his research and took what his father taught him]. I've been thinking of conditioning him seeing as his mother is from Nigerino on her father's side out of a Chinaman dog while his father's Jeep. I've got to find his pedigree as though I've been in my own house for almost four months I still haven't really unpacked - too, too much junk. When I do, I'll post it.

Cool, I'd like to see it. I'm a fan of Jeep and Nigerino dogs.

Who cares who is pedigreed "IF" they are both GOOD dogs?!? Based on looks alone, I like Tep's size and shape better....

Both are nice dogs, both look very similar. It doesn't matter who looks better. If the dog is a good dog, who cares if he doesn't look as "cool" as the other... Are you trying to figure out who looks cooler? I don't understand the whole question. If one is more pretty but is a serious pain in the ass and not friendly, then looks are NOTHING.

Not quite I'm trying to figure out why people used to say Omega looks more APBT / pit than Tep. Is it because he's bigger / sturdier? Or his head's girth? Personally as they're two different ages I could never figure it out... I guess you could say it's irked me a bit [pride issue, the BYB been better than my pop's dog].

And yeah they're both good dogs - got their quirks, who's doesn't? - but I've had Tep since he was 8 weeks and Omega since he was 3 - 3 1/2 and they are both obedience [I didn't / don't let them get away with much]. I tried letting Omega's conditioning go to see if it'd mellow him a bit but as you can see he's still muscular and if anything he went worst.

Like I said originally I don't care either way, it's just always been on my mind what's the "trait" that peope see which distinguish Omega over Tep.

Gods... I said in the first bit Tep's dog aggressive [serves me right for posting these dogs together]... he's not. Thank god

I chose NEITHER because they are both good looking dogs and it would come down to a matter of personality for me.

They both look like amstaffs to me, Omega looks a bit cow-hocked, and Tep isn't standing so I can't compare between the two since one is standing and one is sitting. But that's just my appraisal of the pictures.

Do you have any standing pics of Tep? His face looks more APBT to me but him sitting like that gives his body a funky look.

Right Tep is an Amstaff - last time I checked aren't those the watered down verison - so as it is please don't insult without knowing me. His mother is a hog dog and so too are his brothers. Oh and Omega isn't cow-hocked its the way he stands, he moves quite nicely [lot better than most "pits" I saw in Jersay].

I can't really tell from the pictures. Get 'em in shape and stack them, and I'd have an easier time. I like Tep better. I like pit bulls that lean a little more toward the terrier side than the bulldog side in looks.

That's your answer right there, most non pit bull people think APBT are larger and big headed. All of my dogs are byb mutts, but the newest is a girl with a big noggin, enough loose skin to make another dog, she's thick and huge, but everybody thinks she's just a great looking "pit" even though she isn't at all. My male has a nice imo terrier looking head, lean build, very athletic, people think he's a damn greyhound or something.
