In one of my first photo threads of Zealand, someone asked for his ped. I honestly had never seen it. I really can't tell you WHY I decided long ago to get a dog from his breeder, without ever having researched their peds like I normally do.. but oh well lol
Anyways, his ped was posted and I did glance at it briefly... but I never REALLY looked into it. Now, I looked at it a bit more closely... and I'm curious to know what others think of it! http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com...&dog_id=350866 (The dog the ped is for is Joker, from the first breeding between Ze's sire/dam) I really don't know anything about Hemphill/Wilder dogs... opinions on them? I know, I know... there's a lot of RE and heavier dogs in there, too lol Thanks! ![]() |

I really like the peds on top. Yeah, there's some RE way back on the bottom. If you click on PEDSTATS, you'll find the RE dogs account for 6.25%. I guess I would say APBT with a minor staff infection LOL. ... but if you want to get technical ... RE was/is registered as APBT isn't it ?? I know it's said that the AmStaffs that comprise RE came from dual registered dogs ... so pick a breed name HA !!! (it's still staff though)
Frankly, you'd be surprised (maybe not) how many dogs you would NEVER guess have ANY staff ... have a little bit if you look back a ways. Without even looking, I'm sure my little Colby APBT, Mason does ... WAY back (but not RE) ... prolly some Colby AKC AmStaff blood from 1936-1939. |

In all honesty, I know some folks who would pass on these dogs for no other reason than that anomaly in the peds (right or wrong, I think I would have). When teal first announced Zea ... I looked up the peds and saw this. I wondered how long it would be before this discussion came up. And I wondered how Zea might turn out structurally. Maybe it's a good thing that teal herself is putting it out there and up front.
At the end of the day, I still think Zea is a wonderful pup though, with lots of potential. Maybe more potential than any dog I ever own. |

If you click on Elliott's Jinx (Wildstreaks) you will see some AKC registered Gaff dogs. So that RE in the peds is RE + Gaff.
I would wonder what the breeder ever had in mind, introducing that blood. I know the dogs are mostly WP dogs so right/wrong valid reason/not valid, I wonder if that had anything to do with it ?? |

With that logic , I can go out and breed my male to a chihuahua and if the pups come out looking like APBTs then they must be and not have any chihuahua in them. When I see that pedigree I see people that just bred anything that had a paper. I guess I should have specified that the dog must be purebred bully of some sort ![]() I'm not sure how to justify calling my ADBA-type, probably going to be under 45 pounds adult weight pup an Am Bully? lol LIKE I SAID - This thread wasn't asking if my dog is APBT or Am Bully... it was merely asking for information on the dogs in his pedigree, especially the Hemphill/Wilder dogs. I really don't care for your opinions on if he's an APBT/Am Bully ![]() |

i dont know if this helps (or if it is ok for me to post them
![]() " No one really knows when these dogs first came to this country, but the great breeder William J. Lightner once told me that his grandfather raised them before the Civil War. It is quite possible that they were even here during the Revolutionary War. In any case, it is clear that dogs of this breed came from various parts of Europe, specifically Spain and Sicily. But little is known about these earliest importation's, because nothing was written about them.. People like Lightner, McClintock, Menefee and Wallace, to mention just a few. "Regardless of one's historical perspective, these old amber eyed, red nosed, red-toe-nailed, red coated dogs represent some of the most significant pit bull history and tradition that stands on four legs today." No NEED to say it's ANOTHER "BREED"! Just to add -- the bottom quarter of that ped is mostly Am Staf -- some very nice dogs and some overdone ones..... |

All I know is comparing Joy's dogs or anything she's ever produced to Hemphill dogs is a true insult to any Hemphill dog that ever took a breath. |

Not that I'm disagreeing with you. If I had a dog like yours I'd just call it an APBT. Maybe Pitterstaff, like Mutt said. ---------- Post added at 08:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:47 PM ---------- Its not the pedigree that makes a dog bully. Geez its the body type. |
