Kayla... that's what the blue dog has I guess. I'll have to read it in more detail so i understand the problem.
PP... I'm excited, still waiting for it to be final, we only get them if a transfer and transport can be set up... eeeek!

Good Luck. But since you say you live in an apartment, I assume you have discussed this with your landlord?

Hope to see photos if you do get to foster them. I hope to get to foster one day, but I'm afraid I'd be a foster fail. I wouldn't be able to let the dog go. lol.

That's great of you do foster! I am dying to foster as there is a great pit bull rescue in southern Alberta, Prairie Pit Bull Rescue, and would sure love to but at this time in my life... nope. 2 dogs and 4 kids fills up my house pretty good! But when the kids are gone or much older I might consider getting into fostering. I look forward to some pics!!

Default possible foster puppies coming my way!
I am a volunteer for PBFL in Alberta, and recently got an email about them being in need of a transporter and foster home for 3 puppies for a week. 2 black and 1 blue... they called 'em "pitbull" but I'm assuming they are you're generic pet bull... probably some sort of am.staff/am.bullyxapbt mixes lol. But none the less, I told them I was able to help out as long as my husband didn't mind the extra paws being around for a week or so.

My job will be to pick them up from Grande Prairie, AB. Bring them home with me for a week or so, take them to the vet and schedule their spays, and theeen take them to Edmonton, AB for the longer term foster care and for potential adopters to view them. PBFL does most of their stuff in the Edmonton area. The three pups should all get homes fast, the blue on has skin issues around her neck, go figure.

While they're here they will stay in our Xpen in the kitchen and I will be working on their house and kennel training and some basic commands for fun.

If we get them I'll make sure to post pictures!

Could be dilute color alopecia, but it's usually seen after 6 months.

nice, about the blue, if its only on the neck and the pup has had any kind of collar on it could be the collar (I always think this though because my boy is allergic to nylon and that is how I found out)

They just emailed me about the blue girl she said the pup has a condition that causes fur to slough off, but is in no way contagious. I'm assuming its demodex?
Poor girl :/

I have my phone interview tonight, and I have to take pictures of my apartment and our yard for them. I'm the only volunteer this far North and they've told me I have more experience than most of their volunteers [I guess they get a lot of people who have never even owned a bully breed] so I'm thinking I have a good chance. I'll be bummed if I don't get 'em, but I'll def. understand if they say no since I'm in a condo/apartment.
Crossing my fingers though! It'd be a good experience for me and I have everyday all day to help potty train them and work with them!

I really thought I replied to this thread... O.o LOL

Yeah, sounds like demodex... common in pups, especially common in blue dogs!

Do you know about how old the pups are?

I would NEVER have puppies in an apartment... that would make housetraining a bitch, I'd imagine! LOL You're far braver than I!

Yeah I hope the demodex doesn't hinder her adoption, although if she is riddled with other health issues that require medication or care the rest of her life I'd rather see her just pts instead of potentially being throw home to home her whole life when she isn't a cute puppy and when people get sick of paying for her ailments.

I've housetrained 5 puppies/young dogs in our apartment since Aug. 2010 so I feel up to the challenge. If I had never done it I'd def. say hell no. Plus it's only a week, and they will for the most part be contained in an XPen in the kitchen so they can't potty on the carpet or chew anything. Most of the dogs I've housetrained it's taken less than 2 weeks for me to have them trained well enough to let them out of the Xpen while I'm home/awake

I'll ask for their age and pictures! Totally forget to ask.
