You know, I've been on this forum for awhile and I've never actually EVER asked what breed you guys think my dogs are.
Even though thats mostly because I don't have papers so I know they are just mutts. Anyway...(there was a reason for posting this thread lol) Yesterday in the pet store we brought Willow in with us. (We don't bring her to the pet store so they've never seen her before) The girl behind the counter took one look at Willow and said "Oh my god what a cute little Staffie!" Honestly, I must have given her the strangest look ever lol Anyway to keep this short, apparently her grandmother "back in the day" used to breed SBT's and show them blah blah blah I don't know I was only half listening. She asked me if we had papers for Willow and when I told her no she seemed kind of sad about it.. I told her we have no idea what she is and briefly explained how we got her. Anyway so I went home and looked up the AKC regulations. Willow's a little big for a staffie (she's 16 inches and weighs 38 lbs which is more common for males apparently) but otherwise she is a spitting image of the dog on the main page. Anyway...so here is a picture for comparison just for fun! =) (again...I am aware that she is just a mutt without papers but I thought this would be fun lol) This is what I get from google images ![]() ThIs is Willow (Its not a good picture but I did try) ![]() |

nice dog..staffords come in all shapes and sizes ,from 13 inches up to 19+ inches here in England.don"t forget that it is an English breed .the standard is written as a guide for conformation purposes. many dogs fall outside this standard and they are no less staffords, my pups mother is 18-19 inch, a line bred kc registered dog.
but as you say yourself without papers there is no way of telling if your dog is pure. all i am saying is that i have seen many purebred staffords that look similar in type to your dog..again nice dog . j |

i cant tell much of anything from that pic but id say there was staffie in your dog. they have all sorts of ranges in size in show vs working, whether staffie people choose to admit it or not. |

A generic dog will likely have similar, even if not ideal, conformation to ALL dogs with a shared history, APBT AST SBT for example ... just depending on the "light". They aren't purebred and carry the blood of all those dogs. Does the dog look SBT? ... looking from a perfect angle maybe ... APBT? ... looking from a perfect angle maybe ... AST? .... looking from a perfect angle maybe.
Perhaps your dog is very similar to historical dogs as they appeared before specific bloodlines were bred to form dogs recognized by a registry with a standard and breed name. |
