There's a new device out in the states. It's a small GPS chip that you attack to the collar of your dog and looks like this
![]() And then they've got both Apple and Android apps for tracking it. ![]() So if your dog ever gets lost or escapes, you can track them. Of course - not much good if they get stolen, as I imagine the people will just take the collar off - although they may not realise it's a GPS tracker and leave it on! It's waterproof too so they can swim with it. But the downside is it runs off a small battery, it comes with a docking station and you can recharge it and it sends you a message to your app when it's low on battery. It's being sold in the US for $99.95 including the docking station to charge it, and then you have to subscribe to the GPS tracking at $7.95 a month for the first animal, then just an extra dollar for every additional animal. Seems quite cheap to me for what it does. But would you use it? |

I can see people getting something like this and sticking it in their kids backpacks lol. I think there's the possibility to use that if I lived somewhere rural and had enough land to let my dog roam, but I can't see the value of it while I still live in the city.
I suppose I'm too used to my dog never straying out of sight and coming to call very quickly but then I know what some can be like so probably quite usefull for puppies or different breeds that can be more mischievous. |
