Not sure if this is overboard, but Happy (belated) Gotcha Week, Rita!

As a lot of you know, I got Rita from my brother. We know for sure her birthday is in June, but we got her Thanksgiving week. My brother came and stayed the week. He went to his home and brought Rita back here on Wednesday. She stayed here with all of us until he left on Monday and then she became ours officially.

However, since we also know her date of birth, some people would think celebrating both "Gotcha" and birth is a bit much. But I do. Since it's Thanksgiving week, we give her and the other dogs some tasty human food and I also buy a couple new toys for everyone.

I was debating posting but I couldn't help it. I love the Ritarded One so much. Happy (belated)Gotcha, Rita. Don't know where we'd be without you.

And this week presented me with an unexpected gift. My husbands hours had been cut for the last few weeks and he had a lot of time to call and chat while waiting to load or unload. It was raining pretty hard Monday and I was starting to worry because he was working real late and hadn't called. I started thinking of the what if's. When he came home, I pounced. "Oh, I am so happy you're home. You were gone so long and I was getting worried something happened! I love you!". Many hugs and kisses.

I looked down and Rita was standing there looking at me funny. That's about when I realized I must be feeling the exact same way Rita does every time he goes to work and then comes home. And that's why she runs over to him the minute he sits down to lay on him and lick the skin off his face while wiggling and wagging.

Usually, it's Gotcha Day. Slang for "Got you". Most rescue owners do not know their dogs date of birth, so they celebrate the day they brought their dog home and call it "Gotcha Day". I call it "Gotcha Week" with Rita because she came here with my brother for a few days and he did give her to us then, but I didn't feel she was really ours until he left her here and went home.

I would post pics, but my camera got chewed by the puppy. It's barely working now. Lil snot crawled up on my desk and stole it while I was in another room doing laundry. I didn't think she could get up there, so I didn't worry about it. Silly me. I underestimated an untrained Pit Bull. D'oh!

How about the first pic I took the day she became ours?

And my most recent picture. Within the last 3 weeks, anyway. Allergies are so hard on her. She's lost a lot of fur and you can tell. She's also gained some weight from her meds.
