Default Would you breast feed puppies?
Let's say you are a woman who happens to be lactating due to the birth of a child. And you have a great breast pump and a litter of orphaned pups. Would you feed them your milk?

Don't blame me, blame Pit Bull Carnival and Cliff!

Personally, nope. I'd buy the puppy milk and bottle feed them that way.

I made it a poll in case someone was too embarassed to actually say yes

I'd say it depends.
Would human milk be more nutritious for the puppies versus the puppy milk replacement?

I would. It really wouldn't bother me. I would only do it if needed though. Though, I wont ever have to come across this experience so I'm all good.

That was my first thought!

Well, in light of life or death, I guess I would have to be a "depends", too. If there was no way to buy or get donations of puppy milk and the pups would die, then I would pump and feed them.

no i couldn't do it. The idea creeps me out. If it was like the middle of the night and I found starving puppies I would sooner give them cow milk for the night and first thing in the morning get them puppy milk replacer.

Dog milk is different from human milk, so I would say no for that reason, amongst others. I mean, it would be like giving a puppy kitten milk replacer. I would use this recipe for puppy milk instead.

I would not. I would go out and get puppy formula.

I wouldn't, simply because of the nutritional aspect. I'd sooner make a homemade milk replacement that offers the pup nutrition, or see if I could concoct a liquid thin enough out of blended dog food and water until I could get formula for pups.

If I started to lactate, I would have worries other than puppies.

(Still, no, lol)

lol even though I am going to have a baby in Feb. I would say no, for the reason that the milk for humans is completely different than that of dogs, heck there are like 20 proteins they can't manufacture for humans that are in human milk (that is why I am all for breast feeding and probably ganna quit work when she is born all together) I would however if it was life and death do it because anything is better than nothing but really, I don't think a trip to the store and back or pumping would save enough time so it would probably be a lost cause
