Default That's it! I've had it!!
I cannot take it anymore!! My neighbors freakin dog, some beagle mix, keeps getting onto my property!

Shes a nice dog, and very friendly, but this dog looks...diseased. I really think she has mange (she has patches of fur missing on her back.) shes not fixed, filthy, no collar etc. The only reason I know who this dog belongs to (her name is Dixie by the way) is because I hear the people behind us ALWAYS screaming for her. (She gets out at least once a day)
Well, I've tried really hard not to let it get to me...
I make sure to check outside first before letting the dogs out (Our yard is fenced in separately from the rest of the landlords property since we rent out of the cottage on the property) If I know Dixie is anywhere on the property the dogs stay in.

Today was the last straw...
Boyfriend had the dogs outside while I made lunch. I hear a crash and my boyfriend yell,. Willow growling. (This is normal behavior...Willow is vocal when she plays with Raj so I didn't think much of it) Then my boyfriend comes inside with Willow by the collar...grabs a few treats, throws Willow in her kennel, and is yelling at Raj top come inside.
Meanwhile, Willow is freaking out inside her kennel (I didn;t think much on that either, I thought it was because Raj was outside and she wasnt..) \
Boyfriend brings Raj inside and flies out the back door...again.
Thats when I realized something was happening (lol delayed much? Yeah) So I follow him and as he comes inside hes bitching about....you guessed it. Dixie.

Apparently Dixie got thru a hole in HER fence (thats how shes been getting onto our property for awhile now) and was squeezing thru a hole in our fence (Its too big for our dogs to get thru, but Dixie is alot smaller...so she can sort of squeeze thru...as we discovered today)
Well...Willow (who isnt the "hot" one out of my two dogs...) didn't like that and..well..busted my fence to attack Dixie. (Mind you...Willow is HALF the size of Raj and Raj couldn't even break it down if he wanted)

Thankfully no dogs were hurt in this adventure...since my boyfriend was quick enough to grab Willow before she could make any contact with Dixie. I don't know what diseases Dixie could have, cause she definatly does not look healthy (let alone the possible mange on her back) I'll be damned if MY dogs get sick because this freakin dog wants to shit on our property.

Anyway...thats my story..
I'm not too sure what I should do about Dixie. What should I say to her owners? Would it technically be our fault if something happened to Dixie because the main piece of property isn't fenced in?

On top of that...I heard a noise outside my door...guess who's going thru my garbage!

Fucking dog...fucking owners. I feel so bad for Dixie...she really is a friendly dog it just sucks she has such shitty people taking care of her.

oh and to add something ELSE. the thiing just started howling, which got Raj's attention and he almost went thru my window trying to get to her...
So now both dogs are going to be crated until I can figure out what to do.

You could technically call AC since the dog does keep coming onto your property. And is obviously offleash. The owners aren't properly containing their dog. So I think maybe a visit from AC might actually set them straight.

Just a thought.

Yeah I just called them and they are closed for the rest of the day. The problem is that when she comes here she's gone usually in ten minutes (except today of course)

I'm thinking about being fair and writing these people a letter and dropping it in their mailbox lol (they are never home until late at night)

I would most deff contact the people who own Dixe. If she isn't being well taken care of maybe after you tell the people about her getting on your property and how sickly she looks, you could take her to the pound yourself? Mange isn't contagious btw, so you don't have to worry about your dogs getting it.

I'd write a letter, too. We had a problem, before we had any bully dogs, with a VERY HA Pitbull coming onto our property and messing with the lab and terrier mutts we had outside. I went and talked to the owner (had to do a little searching because at first I had NO CLUE which house he was coming from) and let him know. His excuse was "The dog always got out and he couldn't keep him contained." I demanded he show me where he kept the dog, and he showed me a stake in the ground with a length of chain, and a choke collar at the end to hold the dog with. All I could think was "Dumbass." I explained to the man that it wasn't holding because choke collars hang loose when not being pulled on, and it could just slip off the dogs neck. The man was too dumb to get it, so I just called AC with his address. I didn't see the dog again. So speak to the owners, if they don't cooperate, call AC. She may be a sweet dog, but she's endangering YOUR animals, which I'm positive you care about more than Dixie. You gotta do what you gotta do.

Repair your fence and talk to Dixie's owners. Hopefully, you guys can work things out and she can be kept contained.

I know mange isnt contagious, I'm more worried about parasites in her poop lol
My issue with the mange is it doesnt look like they are trying to take care of it at all.

Then maybe it's best for poor Dixie if AC DOES come and pick her up. People like that don't deserve to have pets.

Thats where I'm torn. They DON'T deserve her, but she really is a good dog and I don't want her to be put down because of her dumbass owners.

::sigh:: I guess I'll be marching my preggo ass over there later on to "chat"
I wonder if they even miss their dog....

Hmmmmm.

A horrible thought went through my mind. Steal her and find her a good new home yourself.

Yeah, bad thought. Don't do it.

Ignore the last part of the message and do it. Fix her up yourself and have her stay at a friends house, until she's in the shape to find a new home. I mean they must really don't care if she's always in YOUR yard.

Morally wrong, but I know where youre coming from.
Nobody would take her anyway...shes got mange you know? She looks terrible =(

I also dont want to cause issues with the neighbors because I rent, and I dont need them trying to make my life a living hell either...so thats why I was thinking about keeping anonymous thru this whole thing...

Yeah but I can't go stealing someone elses dog. I know whos dog it is so I think that would sit with me too much. I would take her myself if I could afford another dog, but with all the treatments she may need, I know I couldnt do it. (That and my boyfriend HATES her. I mean...HATES her lol even though she hasnt done anything to him)

I hate situations like this. /: But maybe AC would fix her up. Or suggest to the people that they take her to a shelter if they can't properly care for her? Idk. I understand about renting and not wanting to cause problems, but honestly their dog coming onto your property should cause problems for THEM, not you.

It would cause problems for them, but I don't want them calling my landlord and complaining or making lies about my "vicious" dogs (they arent vicious obviously but my landlord is already slightly wary of them because of their breed)

We are looking to move soon, so maybe what I'll do is call animal control in the morning and see what they say. Keep it all anonymous unless you know...something does happen to my dogs.

Oh and we are fixing the fence tomorrow morning, hopefully we won't have any surprise visitors!

Honestly, it is the neighbor's fault, but your problem. Being a pit bull owner, no matter what happens you will be to blame. Sorry, but that is just the way it is. :'(. You need to fix your fence and never let your dog out there, unless you are there. Just for good measure, you may want to use a leash on your own dogs in your own yard.

If you call AC, they will somehow find out, and then will more than likely try to get even. That is just how people who let their dogs roam are. You may need to "rehome" their dog, if it keeps coming in your yard. Wait until it has been a long time, since you complained about the dog to anyone, before you do it.

Believe it or not....but you do not have a lot of options. Other than completely securely fencing your area with privacy fence. Which may not be practical when renting. If that dog soemhow gets into your area and your dog mauls it....you are going to have nothing but problems from AC and your landlord. So not fair, but just how it is.

EXACTLY my point. You just about named all of my worries with this dog and making complaints etc. Maybe we will speak to the landlord before acting, I've voiced my concerns to her once. Shes a really nice woman so hopefully she';; see where I'm coming from, but since she doesnt live on the property she doesnt know the whole situation..Its because of this neighbor that we have NEVER allowed the dogs to be outside unsupervised. In fact, they rarely get any outside time in the first place because I'm so paranoid. When I'm home i let one out at a time (its much quicker that way) and when the boyfriends out he will tak them both out since he smokes outside and he lets them play, but then they come right in =/ Its not really fair to them and when I find the new place I'm looking for a place with a really nice yard for them and hoping to save up money to put up the best fencing possible. But this place...just isnt worth it =/

Don't you hate that? It's ridiculous that bully breed owners have to walk on egg shells because of the public ignorance of these animals...ugh.

I see your dilemma.. But as far as AC, you have to be very careful with neighbors. You don't want to start a war.
