Default Your coconut will kill you before a "pit bull" does
Found this and thought it was a great little read and some of them were hilarious.

1.) About 40 people (children) per year die by drowning in 5-gallon water pails. A person, during their lifetime, is 16 times more likely to drown in a 5-gallon water pail than to be killed by a Pit Bull.

2.) Approximately 50 children in the US are killed every year by their cribs - 25 times the number of children and adults killed by Pit Bulls.

3.) Approximately 150 people are killed every year by falling coconuts. Therefore, you are more than 60 TIMES MORE LIKELY to be killed by a PALM TREE than a Pit Bull.

4.) Each year, 350 people drown in their bathtubs. You are 151 times more likely to be killed by your bathtub than you are by a Pit Bull.

5) Every year, more than 2,000 children in the U.S. are killed by their parents or guardians either through abuse or neglect. A child is more than 800 times more likely to be killed by their caretaker than by a Pit Bull. Thats just sad

6) It can be estimated that for every Pit Bull who kills, there are 10.5 MILLION that DON'T!

Palm trees have locking branches that don't let go.

I hear that their roots get to big for the tree and it makes them go insane.

I like the bath tub one... I just picture my bath tub growing fangs and plotting my death at night lol

Lists like this are funny! I think there's a book... something about balloons and pit bulls? with the same theory.

I once had a palm tree try and kill me. Seriously. The top part was drooping for some reason, like this

And of course me being the genius that I am lol I grabbed the fronds that were within my reach and started going Tarzan on it, and swinging back and forth. My friend (THANK GOD) screamed at me that it was falling/breaking and I let go and ran and the whole top of it fell and hit the ground so hard, it would have killed me I know it lol and it was about 2ft into the ground, so it had to have been seriously heavy to do that.
So yeah dont joke about palm trees, they are seriously evil and should be banned.

I'm sorry but these statistics are skewed. People encounter things like their bathtubs many more times in their lifetime than they do a pit bull, so obviously the stats are going lean towards the bathtubs "killing" more people than a pit bull. Babies spend a ton of time in their cribs, if every baby in the country spent the same amount of time sleeping with a pit bull (or any dog for that matter) the statistics would not look the same.

I'm not trying to say pit bulls are bad dogs, just saying the the statistics are misleading.

But, pit bulls are one of the most owned breeds in the US. So the amount of people interacting with them vs. the number of attacks is VERY, VERY low if you actually look at how many pit bulls/pit bull mixes are out there.

The statistics aren't skewed - it IS a matter of encounter. The point is that things you encounter every day and consider harmless are more deadly than an animal maligned for being a killer.

Oh for the love of god. There is always someone.

This list is for FUN if you want to make a point over how skewed the results are, please make your own thread and stop ruining my fun

I understand that the the number of attacks is very, very low. But the statistics ARE indeed skewed, are you trying to imply that the average American interacts with a pit bull as much as a bath tub? Are you implying that babies interact with pit bulls as much as they are in a crib? The only way there can be a reasonably fair comparison between the danger of two things is if there is a constant, that constant must be the amount of interaction an average US citizen has with each thing. If I use a knife once and it cuts me once, but I use a screwdriver 100 times and it cuts me three times, is the screwdriver really more dangerous?

I am sorry if I took this post too seriously, to the OP, I apologize. I just don't want people to take these flawed statistics and try to defend the breed using them. Their are much more reliable and statistically sound arguments that we can use against those that hate our beloved breed. Once again, I am sorry if I took this post too seriously.

Most people here are well aware of the statistics and I am sure that they wouldnt use something this flimsy to defend the breed. I personally would get the statistics for the bite rate of other dogs to the pit bull or something like that.

Yea bbil8 I think your taking it to literal, we all know dumb statistics that may or may not make sense if actually looked at, and if I had to defend my dog or the breed, I let him do the talking for me, not some nonsense statistic.

Let's say we were all blind to the fact these are just for fun/skewed statistics.
The palm tree one is probably fairly realistic lol... I lived in Hawai'i for 6 months, I got hit in the head by two coconuts on two diff. occassions. I'll let you know how many times Izzy tries to hit me in the head over the next 6 months HAHA!
