Default Lions and tigers and bears-Oh MY!
A man in ohio owned 50 WILD predators like lions, leopards, bengal tigers and several species of bears without even so much as a permit, and people cannot own pit bulls because they are supposedly 'dangerous'. WTF is wrong with this picture??

Bans for exotics like tigers, lions, leopards?? None.
Bans in ohio for pit bulls?? tons.

Yeah I saw that on the news. That rediculous. They showed that story with another local story where a preacher is bringing in exotic animals for 2 of his upcoming services. Its got people concerned that something will go wrong. I won't be sharing my opinions on that church.
However you do have a point though. WTF is someone allowed to have a wild animal but our rights are being stripped away when it comes to owning a domesticated dog.

That's exactly what I said when I heard this awful story! This is mind boggling on so many levels. Thanks for bringing it to light.

Bans come about because of knee jerk reactions from the general public and politicans alike, who love to play on people fears in a attempt to make themselves look good as "public defenders".

These bans on based on the incidents themselves, and never really tackle what bought about this incident in the first place, which is why the vast majority of them never work.

Pitbulls get banned generally because of one or a few incidents regardless of weather the dog is a actual pitbull or not, thanks to idiot owners and sensationalist media. It never adresses the root of the problem. You can bet that harsh laws against owning exotic animals are going to be implemented because of this incident. Is it really going to solve any real issues? most probably not, but hey, atleast politicans get to say they did something and the people get to have a false sense of security.

So true FM.It's messed up.The bans never work no matter what you ban, people will just do what they want, nothing will change and it will all look like some ''good'' came out of the laws-then more places will follow suit. It's just masking the issues instead of addressing them. It's basicly blowing smoke. I feel bad for the exotics(mostly the endangered tigers-wish that some could have been saved to help save endangered tigers worldwide) who were killed because their owner was selfish and didn't give a shit. Not that I really disagree with them being destroyed,it was nessicery but just a shame. In the bans,it seems it's allways the animals who pay the price for their owners idiocy.Bans are simply ineffective, wether they be BSL,prohibition,or wildlife.

FM there has been an outcry for more rigid laws regaurding exotics as a result of the situation in ohio.Wich proves your point prescisely.

Its too bad really that the general public is conditioned to think, laws fix all problems in society. Especially considering many issues we have today, especially with drugs, come from the very laws that is supposed to make society a better place.

And i am not even going to get into all the animals that were killed, especially the bengal tigers...makes me mad just to talk about it.

Love that pic! My buddy set it to me and I almost died laughing! I really wish Ohio would actually pass any of the BSL revision laws that are set to the capital. They just let them die no matter what it says.
