Default Don't use CHEAP CRAP to contain your dogs.
Here's why:

I put Bonnie (Doberman) on a spare tie-out while I was cleaning her regular one. She had been on it for under an hour and a half... and she decided she wanted to come see me... tie-out be damned. I knew it was a cheap POS and that it probably wouldn't hold her but I didn't think she'd break it in the short time she was out there! I had to finish cleaning her tie-out with her under foot the whole time. So yeah... just make sure you use good materials when you are containing your dog!

Here's the beast that did the damage (on her ACTUAL tie-out) getting breakfast this morning. She doesn't look that strong, does she? lol

Lol damn dog! Actually she does, for some reason Dobes dont show their muscles like other breeds, but the ones I had were beasts and would climb up 10ft fences and chase people into trees and shit

She's definitely tougher than she looks. Anybody who's held her leash at training, while there was a toy dangled in front of her, will agree, lol!

It's funny how this is the only place I could ever mention that I tether her, haha. Other forums I'm a part of (and I'm on quite a good few) would rip me a new one if they knew I even thought of tethering.

Thanks Jocko and MJ LOL Ellie, I didn't think I'd be the only one here who'd seen one of those things go. I don't think I'll use one of these things for even puppies anymore... They really are crappy.

She's getting to where I think she'll break the cable, too, so I'm replacing that with chain this week as well. And a new house I hope.

Cliff let me put it to you this way, when Beau was about 8 months old he weighed around 15 pounds and snapped and bent one of those! And he's a Beagle, shouldn't that tell you something about those stakes

I think a chihuahua could break one. It was like as soon as Bonnie decided to get up and walk off there was nothing at all stopping her. She just kind of walked over and it bent and broke!

So funny. I got one of those cable tie ups with a spring on it once. I put Tank on it, then let Marz outside and he want galloping after her and he might as well have been tied up with a piece of hair. It didn't even offer him ANY resistance. So much for it being able to take 1200 pounds of pressure or whatever the heck it claimed to do.

My previous dog a shiba inu mix did the same exact damage to one of those, and he was barely standing around 25 pounds or so. I also had someone earlier try to argue with me to get a collar from petsmart.

LOL... Bonnie has been breaking PetSmart collars from 4months old. PetSmart sells incredibly cheap garbage for incredibly high prices.

Beautiful dog.
I've never tethered my dog but I tied her to her oak wine barrel kennel awhile ago & she dragged it off the deck & ripped up some turf with it so she could lie in the sun.

Thanks. yeah, they're pretty amazing dogs. Not necessarily my "breed of choice" as some people say but I think I will always have one on my yard. Very clingy/owner-oriented. I like dogs like that.
