Thread after thread I read at this forum, and others that I'm a part of constantly say that a tired dog is a good dog, enough exercise and stimulation can solve many problems, that dogs thrive on routine etc etc. I thought to start this thread to help each other who may be struggling with a routine that fits with their lives and dogs, even more so if you have to crate and rotate your dogs. Maybe they'll get an idea from someone else posting that will help!
For me, it's up at 7:00AM to feed Kenzo and Spud breakfast. About 7:30 I bring Spud for his hour long walk, then come home and it's time for Kenzo. We go out and play fetch in the back yard from about 8:30 to 9, then it's time for me to head off to work. While I'm doing that, my husband wakes up at 8:30 to feed and let out Lady, Jokes, and Callie. I leave for work around 9:30, and when my husband comes back from dropping me off he walks Callie, Jokes, and Lady. They get the run of the house until my husband has to leave for work in the early afternoon, then everyone is kenneled with a kong or bone. When we get home from work at 10pm it's dinner time, then we let the dogs have the run of the house until bed time. This time is usually spent chewing on things, or wrestling, or playing tug with my husband or I. So, what's your daily routine? How do you wear your dogs out? How do you do a crate/rotate schedule that benefits everyone? |
