Default Why do My dog loves strangers
It's scary seeing my dog love strangers and try to run up and lick them. He is my dog and I don't want him to look at everyone as friends. He listens to me and my wife but when strangers come around it's PLAYTIME for him. WHY!!!!!? I need him to no that everyone isn't friends. He's 8 months btw

Um. Because he's a bull and terrier, and that's how they are.

These are not wary-of-strangers guard dogs. They are people-loving, greet-strangers-like-long-lost-friends dogs.

Sounds like you chose the wrong breed.

Pits are known for being obsessively human friendly. They LOVE people, friends, family, strangers, everyone.

He's a puppy, all puppies love people. And pits are called "social butterflies" for a reason, lol. All they want is to be loved.

One of the main reasons I love the breed is their love sluttiness. Definitely should have looked into a guardian breed if aloof wariness is what you were looking for.

Btw, you can train a dog (or some dogs) to only pay attention to you on walks. Start with having your dog in a sit as people pass and say "watch me" so that your dog is looking at you, and the reward. Normally it helps to have food or a squeaky toy.

Him being a puppy let alone is one reason he's so happy and friendly but as others have already stated, these dogs are known for being everyone's companion. Some are more reserved and some do in fact want nothing to do with strangers or hate them, but it's not desired as a breed trait as a whole. My girl zoey personally, does not care for strangers and is more on the reserved side, she also displays a more protective nature.
If indeed you do desire and are favoring a dog to be less approachable/weary of strangers, you should have furthered your research on distinct breeds who posses and are more common among those traits/characteristics.
If however you would just prefer for you pup to not display such excitement towards strangers while on walks, that can be trained as ignitethis has stated.

I always hated that big headed bird. Even as a kid I wanted the cat to eat him.

Ditto ma'am.

Shit, I have a "guardian breed' (Rottweiler) and apparently he's picked up on my APBT's sluttiness. At least for most people he's very friendly and outgoing, but he also knows when he needs to protect his mom.

Me too. And I wanted Tom to eat Jerry. You know half the time it was Tweety/Jerry who started shit, not the cat.

I love you.

And OP, if you don't want a dog like that, I will gladly take him off your hands.
