Default East Coast Earthquake
There was an earthquake on the East Coast today...from Ga to Ny. Someone I know said his dog started wlking around the house growling a few minutes before it happened. Did any of your dogs show odd behavior before the earthquake occurred?

My husband felt the quake. Veronica (my fearful, reactive dog) didn't notice.

Go figure

My cat will be sleeping calmly then about 30 seconds before she will just shoot up and take off and hide in her safe place (my moms closet.. which isnt at all safe in the event of an earthquake lol) I still remember the first time I figured it out. She was sleeping on my bed as I was putting my clothes away and suddenly she just launched off my bed and took off. I walked to the door and looked down the hallway trying to figure out what was wrong with her and within seconds a huge earthquake hit. Only animal I have ever known to react to earthquakes though, guess the rest are just so used to them they dont care (well in Harleys case I think hes just to dumb to see anything worth being afraid of lol)

My dog was a little off. I got home 10 min. before the tremors started and when I came through the door she peeked up from her bed and just stayed there looking nervous and she usually grabs a toy and runs over to me to say hello. Mr. Nasty Boy Brandy always is waiting at the door sitting when I walk through it and when I went to look for him he was in the corner of my son's bed which is not normal for him.

niether of them did anything, Tobi only woke up when a video game case that was balanced badly on the PS3 fell down... pathetic excuse for a warning we are about 300 miles from the epicenter and it happened for about 15 seconds wasn't much of a shake though.

We are in Richmond, close to the epicenter, and Agnes freaked out. She basically started running laps around the house. She also barked and whined. Once the initial tremors subsided she quickly went back to her usual afternoon nap routine.

I work in an animal hospital and was at work, and none of the animals reacted prior, and it registered as 5.8 here.
None of our dogs reacted prior, but neither of us were home really today.
Lily apparently was shook up. The gf got home a couple hours later and she was shaking. I hope she hadn't been shaking the whole time.
They also say animals start to run away before an earthquake, namely dogs and cats escaping out of homes and yards. We get the HomeAgain faxes (microchipped dogs that get reported missing) and the numbers increase after new years and 4th of july due to fireworks, but there definitely hadn't been an increase within the past week. Who knows.

There was apparently one at 3 am this morning. My dog and I were sleeping like rocks, but my mom felt it.

Yes. Mine were very nervous, antsy, paced the eve before.Whined and fussed most of the night, very anxious until the quake hit. They were shaken right after, but have since settled down and are fine.Bella and Mischa are still a little 'funny' about going outside.

I have no idea how my cat reacted cause I was at school. Our building was one of the condemed apartments and she was in there for almost two days alone. When my father got back in she ran from him at first but eventually came out. She jumps at loud noises or sudden movements now but is getting better.
