Most reputable breeders do not ask more than $1000 for a pup. It is actually kind of strange how you can buy a wellbred gamedog from someone decent for less than that(400-800) and even a working bred APBT out of titled parents(400-800) for a fair price, but the ambullies and puppy millers want double that amount, all that ... for nothing but an unhealthy mutant.

I’m kind of new to APBT(and other pit bull breeds) and still don't quite understand what the difference between a APBT and a American bullies. I always thought that AmBullys were the stocky kind and Pits were meant to be much leaner. To me these look like AmBullys. Does anyone care to educate me? are these pit bulls or AmBullys or just badly breed pitbulls

Well prices for anything in a free market system are usually based on supply and demand. So if you can create a demand for your product that is much greater than the supply than of course you can command a higher price.
If someone can get $10,000 for a pick of the litter Muglestons dog because they have created enough demand and there are willing buyers, they should. That is capitalism. You can argue which is a better dog, a game bred APBT, or one of these bullies, and for what its worth I will choose the APBT, it is all a matter of taste. I would be willing to bet there is a much bigger market for fat block headed hip looking blue dogs these days, than proven game bred fighters. Brittany Spears or Lady Gaga sell far more music these days than Mozart or Beethoven do, and you can get more money for their music, although nobody with any music knowledge would say it is worth more. It just has more demand. I am always amazed when someone questions this basic principle. Judging the value of something is done by the marketplace not by individual opinions about worth. To one person something is a piece of canvas with paint on it and to another it is a Van Gogh worth 72 million dollars. Just because someone puts a price on something does not mean it will bring it. If it does, then obviously it was worth it to someone. To me no dog is worth more that a couple hundred bucks, why because for what a dog is to me, I don't need to spend any more than that to get one I like. |
