Yea but you stuck around and decided to listen to what the more experienced people had to say..
|
I suppose you're right. Let's see how this goes.
|
Anybody from St. Louis, Kentucky, Illinois, etc.?
I would love to have some friends(or at least know some people; lol) from my area. It would be nice to maybe meet up someday for a puppy playdate of some sort. xD Or even just hang out.
Around the city I live in, Pitts aren't very popular pups. I only know one other person who has a pitt and he's too rough with her and he's about twice her size, so they're not good for playing together. =/ I only know one puppy other than the pitt puppy, and he's a Dachshund/Rottweiler mix that's waaaay small for her to play with. So, you see, there's no middle ground here. x__x |
what city do you live in? and how old is your pup?

There are a ton of friends to be made here, whether or not they are in your area. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png
These dogs don't "doggy friends" though so don't worry yourself about that. |

I don't withdraw my question, by the way. xD I would still like to know some people from the area with pitties.

The 'pit' in American pit bull terrier has one T, and they don't need dog friends http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/wink.png
See if there are any dog shows in your area. |

And I don't care if they don't /need/ them. She needs to learn bite inhibition for one thing, which playmates help with, and, regardless of what SHE needs, I need some moral support 'cause this pup can easily drive me insane when she's been barking all day, only plays when she goes outside, and then poops five seconds after you bring her in(even if you've been outside for LITERALLY half an hour), etc. And online support and great and all that, but it's not the same. |
Bite inhibition is taught by the owner. You can never start too early with training even if it is for very short periods of time every day. The barking can be the cause of boredom. There are many topics on housetraining here. You can't take the dog outside to play and poop. When you go outside with her, you need to get her to focus on pottying, not playing. A strict schedule for housetraining is a must.
Everyone is different but I can't stand when people refer to APBT's as pitties or pibbles. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/cool.png |

And, frankly, that's your opinion, which I don't much care about. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png I'll call them pitties if I want to, just like you'll call 'em bullies or APBT's if you want to. |
When someone refers to their "pitts" or "pitties" I tend to think of a personal hygiene matter more than anything. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/lol.gif
Anyways, good luck with finding people to socialize with in your area, and good luck with your dog. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png |
actually it just makes you look pretty inexperienced and uneducated about the breed when you use these terms.
go spark up a conversation with an old timer and throw in the word "pitty" |
Lee D: I don't care if it makes me sound inexperienced and uneducated about the breed. I prefer to call them that, so that's what I'll call them. I'm not gonna dis you for calling them bullies even though I hate that term. Make 'em sound even more like an aggressive dog by calling them something people equate to an aggressive, "dominant" person. I really don't care, so just shut up about it. You weren't even in the conversation with that person, so don't butt in.
And, to Bransen, I'm not surprised that's how you see it. I wouldn't be surprised if most people see it like that. But, like above, that's how I see "bullies". So, that's all. People will always have different opinions, so let's leave it at that. And thank you very much for the wish of luck. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png |
You're welcome.
But FYI, that attitude you've got isn't going to get you far, especially in the bulldog world. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/wink.png |
tell ya what pal, this is a public board, so i can "butt in" anywhere i choose, and fyi, i dont call my dog bullys...thats a breed in itself
