Crop or no crop help (pic) TN area
I am thinking I should have had Blue's ears cropped. They are big, floppy and one stands straight up. He just turned a year old last month and I like them but I think he would look even better with them done.
Is he too old to crop? Is there anything to worry about at this age? Does anyone know anybody near the Nashville, TN area that does very good work? I was quoted 350 by a local vet but have not seen his work? What do yall think? http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...lueiphone7.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...r/BLUE/240.jpg |
Honestly I don't think he's too old because at this age the main worry is the cartalige and his is already standing so it won't be a problem keep them up. But I still say no, he's cute like that lol

I wouldn't do it to be honest and I wouldn't even bother since he's a year. He is cute with those ears. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

I wouldn't bother. Plus the ears let you know when they're up to something.

They are adorable...Are you going to be showing him?
|
Most vets will not crop ears after 16 weeks old at the absolute maximum.
At his age now it's just an unnecessary surgery. |
Been there done that, and personally, i wouldn't crop. Just remember cropping you do it for yourself, not for the dog. If you want looks, well work him, a nicely conditioned dog gives a dog a much better look than any crop can ever do.

I think he looks cute. BUT if you do decided to have them cropped due to his age make sure they are lasered if they cut them they will bleed more. Oak ridge vet its not in nashville does VERY good with crops. But not sure they would do a dog that old
|
Yeah, at a very young age would have been ideal. But I just wanted to see what others thought. I do like his ears but I think he would look better cropped.
If I'm gonna do it I want to do it soon. The vets around here have said not a problem but I am still unsure. Thanks for the votes |
I would never crop a dog that old. Adults generally don't handle surgery/pain as well as pups. I would also never use a vet that I couldn't see crops they had done.
If you're not showing him, I don't really see the point in cropping.. I'm one who wouldn't crop a pet dog, or a mutt, just don't see the point. |
Honestly, I say don't do it. Maybe if you are going to show him, but otherwise you're just putting him through pain for looks and it may not even come out good. You also would really need to go find a vet who will let you see the crop jobs he's done before, and not just one or two, I mean pages of crops for you to look at. Or else you'll probably end up with a dog who looks like someone used a rusty pair of scissors on him..

he looks great!!! just like he is!
|
I wouldn't crop them..
But, if you choose to, go with a laser like Wootness mentioned. |
