Need prayers and good vibes!
 

My mom and dad's dog Laini unexpectedly had to go in for surgery today. My mom is so worried and nervous. They are trying to find the remnants of uterine tissue left from a botched spay.

Laini has seizures and there is concern that the surgery and meds will lower her seizure threshhold.

Anyway, Laini and my momma could use plenty of positive thoughts!

I'd appreciate it!

The update is that Laini just came out of surgery! The vet was fairly shocked. Laini had an abnormally large part of the uterine stump left PLUS remaining uterine tissue on both side...so basically I'm not sure what they took out the first time!!!

This poor girl has basically been in heat since Nov 25th!! and the vet said judging by what she saw in surgery, she might have just continued!

The vet is hopeful that a lot of her problems will not be an issue anymore and that in the long run she's hopeful that this might decrease the frequency of her seizures.

Anyway, we still need good vibes for a speedy, successful, and seizure free recovery, but so far, so good.

Heavens - who did the first spay (or attempted to)?

You know, the crazy thing is, it wasn't some random sheisty vet. It was a fairly big practice near my mom and dad that has been in business for quite awhile. It baffles me how they could do such a poor job on such a routine surgery.

My mom left that practice before we realized this was an issue because they started to have inconvenient hours.

My mom is in the process of getting that vet to cover all these costs.

Thankfully her new vet is WONDERFUL and has taken such good care of Laini through this process.

Ah I love you guys!! My mom is taking a couple days off work to stay home with her and I know my mom is going to hug her silly! I will make sure she gets one from you guys too!

Yeah my mom actually already submitted to the old vet the many trips and bills that it took to diagnose her. She's also going to submit this bill.

Thus far they have sounded fairly compliant with covering those costs.

If they chose not to, my mom is taking them to small claims court.

I just talked to my mom and she sent the biggest thanks to everyone on here. I need to just get her to join! There is nothing she loves more than that dog of hers http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Just saw this now, so sorry!! Glad everything has turned for the better! I'll keep precious Laini, who has eye just like Tegan!, in my prayers that the mystery of her seizures will finally be done with now that the remnants of her uterus is finally GONE!

I'm glad that the vets seem compliant - I'm sure they'll dish out the dough no problems, especially if they know they'll be in court otherwise! I know they'd be terrified for bad press!

awww i am just not seeing this thread and as i read through i went on a roller coaster of emotions or worry and sympathy to happy and relieved!! hahahha
