Default Going to the big house this Thursday...
They've started a "Jail Dogs" program where the inmates get dogs ready for adoption. I think it's a great program. Some of the dogs are pit bulls and I've been asked to speak with the inmates. Public speaking makes me really nervous and I've also never been inside of a prison.

Good luck! I think it's a great idea, too. Gives dogs a second chance, and it puts our tax dollars at work instead of at waste.

I think its great work what you are doing. It will benefit both the dogs and inmates.

I had to go into a couple prisons, to visit the employees as part of my last job. It is a weird feeling as you go through 2 sets of secured doors/gates, and the last one slams shut behind you. They some people actually pass out. Just stick with the guards and all should be ok.

It went great, afterwards the prisoners had lots of questions and we hungout and met some of the pit bulls they have in their "Jail Dogs" program. We also brought lil Peanut and they didn't want to give him back

I absolutely support this program. I think it is great. I believe the prison out in Madras has a Jail dog program too. It helps the dogs as well as the inmates.

I think I would jump out of my skin when that door slammed behind me!! Going to jail has always been on my "MUST NOT EVER" experience list! So far, so good! I think it's a great idea, and like stated above, better our tax dollars be benefiting from something good. Are they going to learn how to train the dogs to be Therapy Dogs? I cannot imagine being in jail and not getting to touch a dog.. I've never thought about it until I saw them petting the dogs.

I love this picture.... poor pup is like... "NOOOOOO, not jail!!!!!"

I looove programs like this and I think there should be more of them, it helps everybody from the dogs to the inmates. If I remember correctly, inmates who took part in these programs where less likely to return to jail then those who didn't.

This is so wonderful! I hope one day these programs will be common place not only in jails but also many rehabilitation facilities. This is just so beautiful. Kudos!
