Went to the dog park today in Gilbert Arizona. I go to the dog park with my dog 4 to 5 times a week. Today my dog went up to another dog trying to play with it. The other dog did not want to play and attacked my dog. It was a very short fight. I have trained my dog not to fight and to walk away when another dogs are being aggressive (this was not easy). The owner had to grab her dog to keep it from coming after my dog. Who had already started walking away. Because my dog walked away I didn't have to step in. The owner of the other dog did not know the pit bull was mine. A few minutes later I hear the owner telling people that my dog attacked her dog. I step in asking which dog attacked hers. Still not letting her know it was me and letting her finish her story. What she didn't know is that I had filmed her dog attacking mine. Once she was done, I told her it was my dog and that her dog attacked mine. I forcefully told her not to go around telling people my dog attacked her dog when all my dog was doing is trying to play. Later on when she was leaving I walk up to her and said,"can I show you something." I showed her the video of her dog attacking mine. She got all pissed off and said,"that I was making a big deal out nothing." Its not the first time my dog has been attacked. Things like that happen all the time at the dog park. What got me is that she was going around making it sound like my dog was acting aggressive towards hers. I felt she was just saying that because my dog was a pit bull and trying to make her dog look like the victim. Now am pissed off, I told her that if I ever see her dog here again I would call the SPCA and have her and the dog banned from the park or have the dog taken away. I was just talking shit, I’m not going to call anyone. Then I told her that, "Pit bull’s have a bad name because of ignorant people like you." It pissed her off even more. I made my point and like my dog I walked away. This is me venting.

She's got adorable ears ... but the dog park is a terrible place for our dogs. Giving people an excuse to hate our dogs is not helping anyone, even if our dogs are the innocent ones.

Do yourself, your dog, and this breed a favor and STOP going to dog parks. And I'm sorry but IMO you cannot train this breed to 'walk away' from fights. It's not like a little kid that understands punching someone is wrong. This breed is prone to DA and even if your dog doesn't start fights, always be expecting him to finish them. And why would you film this dog fight? The second I notice aggressive behavior coming from two dogs I get in to seperate them, not whip out my camera and record it.

i wasn't filming the dog fight. I was film my dog. the fight just happened(like I said it was a very short fight). I heard that my dog my be calm now but it my turn around at 2 year old. Don't know if thats true. Anybody know?

This isn't middle school v_v Also, dog aggression cannot be trained out of anything. Your dog may turn on later in life, and when you have it off leash at a dog park and it kills some ankle biter, it'll be your fault.

I know that the father had papers and it was a american pit bull terrier blue nose. I also know that the mother had no papers and is brindle, white, and blue. From what i have see my dog looks like a american pit bull terrier. But I could be wrong. She 13 month old.

And I understand your thinking The only problem with going about it that way is that our dogs will take the blame no matter what happens.

The best way that I have found, is to just take your dog to parks that are not off leash, let people see how well behaved she is on leash. I get a lot of people coming up to me when I walk my girl, they ask questions, pet her and usually tell me stories of their own dogs. I've changed a few opinions this way.

I'm p. sure your dog is an AmBully or maybe a bully/amstaff mix. Don't trust what papers say, registries will register cats as pit bulls if you send in the money.

Heavy73,PLEASE do not take your dog back to the dog park!!!!!Not all owners are responsible with their dogs there.(as you found out) Dogs can pick up so many diseases and illnesses at dog parks from unvaccinated and sick dogs/puppies.DON'T risk it!!!

Also,on the note of his breed.I am thinking he is an AmBully or AmBully x APBT.Blue is sort of a 'rare' color for a pure APBT,but quite common in american bullies.I am guessing mom might have been the bully blood and dad was most likely APBT or reg'd as one at least.Do you remember what lines dad was out of?????

To answer your question,yes,many bulldogs dogs do "turn on" about two years.In case you aren't familiar with the tern "turn on" Its basically when the dog starts to act like most bulldogs and tries to kill any other dog that comes near it.And it can happen slowly or quite suddenly.All bulldogs American Bullies included have a very strong potential to be dog aggressive,its in their blood,what they were bred to do.You can train a lab not to run after and retrieve anything it feels like,but you cant train the urge they have to do it out of them,and who doesn't give into urges every now and then?I understand you wanting people to know that "pit bulls" aren't bad dogs,but taking them to the dog park is not a good way to educate people,because if your dog gets into a fight,it doesnt matter if the other dog started it.The bulldog will ALWAYS be blamed! And while your dog may think you can control your dog from fighting,you need to always remember:A Bulldog wont always start a fight ,but they will damn well finish it! What might just be a scuffle between two other types of dogs can quickly escalate into a situation where only one dog comes out alive,when a bulldog is involved.It's what they have been bred to do ,fight till the end.You can control this to a point,but you will not ever train it out of them.So for all those reasons,dog parks are not a good idea.There are other ways to promote the breed and show them in a positive light.I seems like you have good intentions,but seriously please keep your dog far away from dog parks before something awful happens.Everyone here knows its BS and unfair,but,I cant say it enough.THE "PIT BULL" WILL ALWAYS BE BLAMED FOR ANYTHING BAD THAT HAPPENS!You will be doing yourself,your dog and the whole breed a favor if you just dont take the chance.

1st off your dog is a Cutie, I agree he is not a APBT, but as Prophecy said, also as Prophecy said, dog parks are bad news, they are loaded to the roof with bad bacteria, worms, water bacteria that can make any dog really sick, and bad owners, it is the owners responsibility to clean up after there dog, and to have them have there shots, they don't always do this and they do not always come to the park healthy. I would never bring my dogs to a dog park, who knows what could happen...

now you got me thinking and looking up ambully.

When I got my pup, she was registered as a "blue brindle" APBT, because the UKC (please correct me if I'm wrong) doesn't recognize AmBullies, because they're a cross between two breeds. After reading a little on here about blood lines, I just learned about the AmBully 'breed' as well. Check out the AmBully forum. There's a lot of pics that look just like your pup (and some info about this 'breed').

She is a real beauty by the way
