What is "started out" on animals? Torture,kill,ill-treat?What is cruelty?
Many people who were cruel to animals as kids grow up get a boring job and live a boring life without ever doing anything against the law.

Yeah, shooting stray cats with pellet guns IS cruel. Not something a normal kid does just to kill time. Pretty effed up if you ask me.

Again, would any of you be okay if this kid lived on your street? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ffocation.html

Would you let him Babysit your kid or walk your dog?

And if ANYONE shot my cat with a pellet gun, you would be picking your teeth out out of their stool for the next month...

its not cruel in alot of states, theyre considered nuisance animals. have you ever ran over an animal on the road? as broad as the statment "animal abuse" is, that would make you a felon too.

to roam in my yard. when i was growing up pests were shot, we didnt call AC and have them come pick up a stray.

No I do NOT let my pets wander.

But I lived out in the county on 5 acres for many years & my cats where allowed to "wander" those acres. For one, it helped keep down the rat population.

It's not uncommon for dumb ass kids drunk to roam around the pastures shooting at anything. And not caring who's property they where on.

(Yes, I'm from Texas, but I doubt we are the only state with losers like that)

And I can tell you that knowing allot of dumb ass guys like that in High School, I was NOT at all surprised to read about them being arrested for beating their "woman" in the local news paper.

So, it's okay that it's "just cats", so lets not worry about people like that till they move on to dogs & kids?

But surely setting your cats out to kill rats is cruelty. Who specifies which animals can be subject to cruelty?

Ever think it was the drinking that lead them to eventually beat up their "woman"?

One, I am NOT for the stupid registry.

But someone thinking it's just normal kid stuff to go around shooting cats with pellet guns, I couldn't let that pass.

That is not a case of exterminating feral cats. It is a kid going around getting his jollies by causing random injuries to the animals, which wouldn't probably result in instant death but rather in extended pain and suffering from wounds, possibly infection and slow death to follow.

MORE so it is about this kid being "all grown up" and STILL thinking there is nothing wrong with the above actions.

I've never heard of a serial killer who was a bullfighter and bullfighting is considered cruel in most countries where the art isn't a tradition.

I think in the great grand scheme of things animals are quite unimportant as the are many other much more worrying things in the world.

who said they walked away? i grew up hunting and was taught dont take a shot unless its a kill. there was nothing random, if it wandered in the yard, around our animals, it died. nothing sick about it, its called protecting our animals.

maybe i shouldnt have said "neighborhood"....i grew up in the country. we had 200 meatmaker chicks every spring. what should i have done, shot the cats, or let em eat all the free meals they want?

and how about the stray dogs? should i let them run the cattle? get serious (that one was for OSW)

I believe what they have found is, serial killers typically abused animals in childhood. Which makes sense because empathy usually develops in children around age 2-3, but with the sociopath the brain development of empathy (or compassion) does not occur. That is where the "bad wiring" begins.

It does not stand to reason though that every child who abused animals lacks empathy, is a sociopath, or will grow up to hurt human beings. There is something to "kids being kids" just doing bad tings out of immaturity or because no one taught them otherwise.

It is disturbing though when someone who was cruel to animals in childhood looks back and sees nothing wrong with it. I hope such people aren't passing these attitudes on to their own spawn.

Well that's a lot different from doing it because there was nothing else to do after school. You did make it sound random and purposeless. Shooting cats or dogs to kill, to protect one's property, livestock, or family is WAAAAY different than how you made it originally sound.

no, you made it into something without asking. i said a kid afterschool with nothing to do. no cable tv, no video games, chores and then free time. dad gave me a gun and taught me how to use it, and thats what i did

You're arguing with someone who holds the same opinion as you. Maybe there is something wrong with your reading comprehension.
