Default would you consider...
i know it is not possible for you to tell me what kind of dog i adopted but i just wanted to get a feeling from bully breed owners if they would consider him a "pit-bull" style dog. i have a few pictures in my album and i will attach a few to this post. sorry if anybody is annoyed by the question. i know there are lots of posts on this site asking to guess the breed but i'd like to hear a few others thoughts or suggestions. he weighs just over 60lbs and is roughly 4yr old. these pictures were taken about 16 months ago.

i also think rottie half but the white spot on his chest and under his chin plus the brindle where a rott would be brown is making me think apbt or am bulldog plus my dads rotti weighs twice the weight of gill. being adopted out and not knowing his partents we will never know thanks for your input everyone.

I'd say Rottie mix

As for his size, most Rotts are really too huge here in the USA. Breed for that over the top monster look, not for working...

He favors a black and tan with white markings, but I'm a little thrown by the brindle. Of course, I'm in no way an expert on black and tan APBT's.
Good looking guy, no doubt.

Yup. looks like a rottie stood too close to the fence & a local bully sneaked up. Something rangy in their, a bit of hound or cattle dog. Huntaways are very rangy have similar colouring, the legs particularly. Is your dog a barker or show any herding behaviour?

Everybody is saying rotti because of the colors. It's really hard to tell because he's sitting in all the pics, we can't see how he's put together.

From the head shots, I agree with Galadriel...there are pure bred black and tan APBTs, and he could be one. He seems to be shaped like an APBT and it's easy to let the markings throw you off.

However, a rottie bred to a lab or a hound could potentially give you the same appearance. The coat might be a clue...rotties and most other breeds have longer, coarser hair than most bully breeds.

One thing that threw me off is in the first pic, his cheek mole thing (can't remember what it's called)...the whiskers coming from it seem longer than in APBTs...but that could be just because they are more noticable on that color pattern.

How long are his hairs?

To me the colors don't really say ROTT but the first image reminds me of a rottie. He may be a rott/bully...? but then again there is many mixes that look like other breeds. shoot a friend of mine has a 50% or 75% rott/pit mix, the dog looks like a PURE and well bred APBT! you'd never ever ever guess rott unless you knew the parents like he did.....The dog has a perfect pit bull build, short, not wide or overly stocky, short hair the whole works. sableish in color.

to Sandi - he is a barker, but i don't know what hearding charicteristics are so i can not tell you if he shows them or not

to Gatorpit - his hair is really short and soft like an apbt except along the ridge of his back it is about half an inch longer and coarse like a rotti.

once again thank you all for your input. i will attach a picture of him, not in the sit position.

Hey its only natural if you don't have papers to want to know what your
dog is! I know I would. I see rotti in there somewhere in the face and could be a bully breed mixed in there too. He is very handsome.

I love this game!

Hmm...
I would def say Rotty mix, the first pic reminds me of my very first dog Simon, I had hom for a very short sweet time before he was placed in a more suited country home. He was a purebred Rottweil Metzgerhund.

The rest of photos are shouting either Amstaff or APBT to me, though it's hard to tell when they're so watered down, not to mention I am far from what you'd call expert.

He looks VERY much like a Rottie/"pit bull" mix. Rotties CAN have white spots, but this is a fault in conformation if it is larger than a quarter (I believe), so most breeders cull or spay/neuter contract pups that carry the white gene. The brindle would likely come from a "pit bull" background, as would the size. Most working Rotties I have come across are still fairly large, with the largest I have encountered being a GIANT 135lb German-bred MONSTER! Now THAT dog hit HARD!

He looks like a pitbull rottie mix but remember, theres also tri-colored pits out there that are supposedly purebred. So I not sure but I think what you have there is a mix. Good looking dog though.
