crazy how organizations and places try to look good, only to team up with DDB, H$U$, PETA and others.... I wouldn't buy anything dealing with these dogs unless you know who they are and what organizations they support. You're giving money to help them destroy our dogs, otherwise

Pitbullshirt.com is donating a portion of their proceeds this month to anti-dog (And anti-dog owner) organization, Dogs Deserve Better. This organization is responsible for pushing anti-tethering (And anti-penning) legislation across the US, making properly containing one's dogs illegal in some jurisdictions.

Sad, maybe somebody should email pitbullshirts.com and let them know what they're donating their money too :/ Luckily I never cared for the designs of the shirts there so.

Friend_Joe 01-11-2010 07:44 PM

True Bearxfoo, I am sure there are some places that really have no idea what the places they donate to, are all about. However, I'm not a big fan of their shirts either, so no love loss here. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/lol.gif

I have my own opinions against thetering and keeping 40 dogs chained outside, however, I know these organizations are persecuting our breedhttp://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/frown.png so they won't be getting a dime from me. I only donate to local rescues http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Thanks for letting us know.

I don't want a penny of my money going to the likes of "dogs deserve better."

OpVJokl8 01-11-2010 10:25 PM

Thanks for getting the info out!!

AALee 01-12-2010 12:25 AM

I actually emailed them, gave them a bit of information on DDB, and told them until I saw improvements and knowledge in who they are donating to, I knew about 150 "pit bull" owners who would not be buying from them.

DDB is a nationwide thing, from my understanding. I know there is a DDB Canada.

janeseymore09092 01-12-2010 02:12 AM

Yes, you can get a list of area reps from their website. I was surprised to find I was friends with one of them on FB lol.

avaicavum 01-12-2010 03:20 AM

Ok- please don't all jump down my throat. I'm being brave by posting this....I really don't quite understand so I'm asking for clarification. What's wrong with the group Dogs Deserve Better? I never heard of them so after reading your posts, I looked them up on Facebook. I'm unclear as to how they're being considered anti-dog and anti-owner. From their profile on Facebook, it looks as though they are against chaining dogs outside for extensive periods in abusive situations. Although I would never ever chain my dog up outside, I'm not saying that owners elsewhere don't have acceptable reasons of their own to do so. I'm just wondering why the group is being labeled as anti-dog and owner. Can someone explain better to me?
Thanks.

skupaemauto 01-12-2010 03:30 AM

Anti-tethering groups often start out with a good goal, though, a bit misguided: To save neglected/abused dogs that are tethered. I say misguided, because they seem to forget about the neglected/abused dogs in all forms of containment.

However, they go from a good thought to trying to push their agenda onto others through legislation. Legislation that doesn't just effect those Irresponsible Tetherers, but everyone that tethers.

Also, as with most laws, the people who were doing it properly will be the ones to pay in the end, because they will listen to the law, and might have to get rid of some dogs, or have to crate them inside for extended periods of time. While the Irresponsible person will just let their dog run loose, or if the groups did build them a fence, just abuse/neglect their dog in its new form of containment. The problem isn't solved.

avaicavum 01-12-2010 03:35 AM

Ahhh... I see. Thank you for responding. I guess it's like the groups that advocate for breed bans when in fact they do nothing to solve the problem of dog attacks. They only hurt responsible owners. Got it. Thanks.

AALee 02-11-2010 11:54 AM

They emailed me back and informed me that the do not support any pit owners who chains their dogs. So I told them mainly that they would be the ones to hurt our breed, and if they wanted to check out properly chaining a dog, to come here to learn from responsible owners who know how to keep their dogs safe.

oh.. I want SO BADLY to post on DDB's facebook site.. but I'd have to "like" them first, and I don't wanna. Here's one sampling:

"
I do dog training at a local PetSmart and this past weekend a family came in to purchase a dog house and a tie out for their new dog. Since they were buying the tie out, I assumed they did not have a fenced in area, and I did tell them it was not recommended for dogs to be tethered for long periods of time, I briefly ...cited aggression and dangers of dog injuring itself by possibly running after something and forgetting about the tether.

However, they said the dog would have a fenced area for running around in but it was going to be an "outdoor" dog which is why the purchased a tie out. I don't know if belonging to this page has made me paranoid or what, but I did not have a good feeling when they left."

comments:
-I agree with your paranoia. Anyone looking for an "outdoor" dog is usually looking for property and not a companion. UGH!

-I'm confused...if they have a fence, and the dog is going to live outside, why tie it?????

-They lied about the fence. They wouldn't need a tether if they had the fence. Poor dog.

-(OP) @ Rene.... good question. If I did private training, I would be able to challenge that statment (or see for myself), but as it is I was not in a position to question their intent. I belive they said it was an American Eskimo dog. BTW.... love the profile pic. a 10 week old english bulldog was one of my very first students.

-People's ignorance never ceases to amaze me. Which is why education, the people here and this website is so important.

PUKE, PUKE, and MORE PUKE. They're dogs. NOT CHILDREN. Chaining a dog should really only be done IN A FENCED YARD. Thereby preventing other dogs from messing with them. And as we all know, most fenced yards are very easy for dogs to escape from.

Not to mention.. Am. Eskies have nice thick coats, and are sledding dogs. Which are accustomed to living outdoors.
