What breed of dog annoys you?

I don't hate any particular dog breed but there are some that just downright annoy me.

Labs are top on my list. Chi's used to be but I can tolerate them.

OnerePeepsy 07-10-2010 06:52 PM

Min Pins, Chis, Shi-Tsus (SP?), Dachshunds, Poms ... you get the drift - any breeds that are prone to be accidentally sucked up with a vacuum cleaner ...

And not because of their size - but because of temperaments that are reactive, fear aggressive, yappy, nervous, etc.

I try not to talk bad about other breeds. I mean we as "pit bull" people have our breed hated, discriminated against, and talked badly about all the time. If we start talking about other breeds in a less than positive manner, how does that make us any better than the people that do this to us.

I choose not to comment on a breed in the thread, I feel its best to say nothing.

And remember there may be members here that have other breeds outside the APBT that may show up in this thread.

Poodles and anything yappy.

Chihuahuas

I really get annoyed by irresponsible dog owners without a clue and half a brain, more than their dogs.

I however have to say that I agree with this and couldn't have said that better myself. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/thewave.gif

While I agree it isn't right to "bash" another breed, we are people with different personalities and some breeds fit better than others. A good book, a little outdated, but I found informative was "Why We Love the Dogs We Do" by Stanley Coren. Why We Love the Dogs We Do

He basically researched famous people and their chosen dogs and which ones fit and which ones didn't. Also did a survery on dog breeds and their personalities and regrouped based on personality instead of what they were bred for. Their is a personality quiz in the book and it matches you with breeds that should fit your personality as long as you are honest with your answers!

Heelers. Now I've only been bit by a dog once. Guess what breed it was???Yep thats right. They are good dogs. Smart, loyal, athletic, strong. But too territorial and HA for me.

georgshult 07-10-2010 07:03 PM

I must agree with the Original Poster. Labs are very low on my list of breeds I like. I currently own a lab, it was my boyfriends before we even got together. She just does not appeal to me, then again I'm maybe just use to my APBT's who tend to strive to please and have so far been much easier to work with. Plus working in the shelter I've really yet to come in contact with a lab that had a super nice, appealing personality.

Not that I have anything against any one breed as a whole, but I just find it super irritating when I'm trying to walk Socrates and some little dustmop is lunging to the end of it's leash at him with that high pitched yap! UUUGGGHHHH...

But I have to agree it all depends on how the owner handles them, and it is them that I get irritated with.

My grandmother has a cairn terrier that is like that and she is a horrible owner and just makes his behavior worse...I would love to punt that dog.

I always find it odd that people don't see little dogs doing this is bad behavior. I know if one of my dogs no matter the size was doing this I would be attempting to correct this problem. Big or small that should be something your dog should not be doing.

Hmmm...I dislike ill-behaved dogs of any breed, but if I had to pick one that I don't care for,it would be an AKC Bulldog.Next would be Dachshunds.Third would be Bassets. It is their conformation that gets to me....How can they perform their" breed duties" with conformation like that?

Annoying dogs annoy me http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/wink.png

But, I'm leery of anything with pointy ears, GSD's, Chows, Huskies, you get the idea. Every one I've ever met has been quirky, and I was bit on the face by a Malinois when I was younger. I'm not scared of them, but I approach them differently than I would a Pit Bull, for example.

And Chihuahua's, don't even get me started. I just sat in the waiting room at the vet with 3 of them next to me that were snarling the entire time, sounded like they wanted to rip someones face off. Then one of them bit the owner. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.png

I'm annoyed by the breed that is attached to a flexi-lead. Oh, wait, that wasn't really the question – I'm not really a fan of Goldens or anything that resembles a used mop though I have met a Golden, a Pekingese and a Cavalier King Charles that were all so nice that they *almost* redeemed those breeds in my eyes.

lh88gFzI 07-10-2010 07:42 PM

Not a fan of the Puggle, if we are going to actually consider that a breed. I think they are ugly as sin and all of the ones I have met are psycho including the one that bit my kid. I just can't help it. Every time I see one I want to shoot the poor thing and put it out of everyones minsery.

AHHHH Puggles! Don't get me started!!! My cousin has one and when I say it is the most obnoxious dog on the face of the earth, I am not exaggerating. I blame my cousin though, the thing needs exercise! I don't think she has ever walked her...ever. The only time that dog has ever gone for a walk was when they moved into the same apartment building as my mom and my mom felt so bad she started going over there in the middle of the day and taking her out while the slacker was at work.

Labs. I got chased by a lab [laps around my house] when I was like 3 or 4, I despise them.

LoloLibia 07-10-2010 08:34 PM

I'm not a fan of Labs. They're nice dogs and all, and I've met a few I like, but, I would never have one. Their personalities do nothing for me. And I'm not that into playing fetch.

Not big on puggles either. I have yet to have a good experience with them. My first being a room mate's puggle named Frankenstein, who wore a swarovski hand made crystal collar, was always held, and when it wasn't, it's favorite past time was to get into the trash and eat used condoms. Which I often watched and allowed to happen, since it also shit and pissed everywhere, because the poor little dog baby was never taken outside (I'm surprised it didn't wear diapers), and I wanted it to die. While this is all the owner's fault, the dog had no personality, no spark of life or intelligence in it's eyes, and did nothing cute or redeeming. And they are hideous.

Although, JRT mixed with pug makes for a hell of a small dog. I boarded one at my house for almost 2 weeks, and that gobliny looking bastard was awesome. I actually liked that one of his eyes pointed in a slightly different direction, and he had a silly little mouth, and messed around with my dogs like he was 10x bigger than he really was. He had such a cocky attitude I didn't want to give him back.

I'll give most small dogs a chance, but I don't really like high maintenance dogs, and I just don't like small dogs. I'm paranoid I'll break one, and most I've met are bitey, yapping, or do this horrible screaming thing instead of barking or yapping.

RCQDnMp5 07-10-2010 08:43 PM

My sister in law has a puggle and I have to say she is one of the all around nicest dogs I've ever met. Bichons and Lhasas are both just super unapealing to me, and I used to groom a lot of them, but no breed annoys me unless the dog it self is annoying.
