Hey everyone, most of you know I got a Lab puppy last year. She's an amazing dog but she's starting to drive me nuts. I don't know what to do.
Everyone I know, that has a Lab says they're hyper, and they tell me to make sure she gets lots of exercise to calm her down. Their advice is NOT working. Harmony gets about 3 hours a day, JUST to run. Not including all of her walks, I take her everywhere I possibly can with me and her hyper issue does NOT change. It doesn't effect her behaviour though. She's an amazing dog, shes the smartest dog I've ever met. She can do any trick you teach her and she learns really fast, she has PERFECT listening skills when I take her out, she walks perfectly, doesn't pull or anything, right in a heel position, she has pretty much a 100% recall, she ALWAYS listens no matter what, and she can walk off a leash on the street. She's absolutely perfect so that isn't the problem. The problem is, no matter what, she's always hyper, and I feel bad for her. When I bring out her leash to take her for a walk, she wants to jump all over the place but she knows shes not allowed to, so she sits there and shakes, and I feel bad. When we first get out on a walk, usually I let her off the leash and run around so she gets some energy out, but when I don't, she walks perfectly but she shakes, because shes so hyper. I exercise her more then most people ever exercise they're dogs, but it doesn't help. Is there any way I can fix this? Sorry it's so long :P |
