Default Found out something tonight..
So, my neighbor's older daughter just called me a few minutes ago.
The conversation started out good, asked me how I've been doing and stuff.
I just figured she called to chit chat a little ya know?
Nope, I was wrong..

She said the reason she called was because she was riding by my house today and noticed Cleo was really skinny.
And said she stopped and gave her a few of her crappy ass treats, that she feeds her obese lab.
Ya know the ones they give to your dog at the register at Petsmart?
Yeah those..
Said she gave her two damn handfulls, to try to "fatten her up a little".
I was furious! But, I held back my anger and stayed civil.

Until......
She tells me she that's abuse to have such a skinny dog.
Oh buddy, you better believe I let that women know what I thought of her dog!
I wonder what she'd think of a conditioned dog?!
And then, I went into educating her.
Told her that it was healthier for dogs to be thin, not emaciated, but thinner and in shape.
Her poor ol' dog can't even go outside for 5 minutes and play without it losing its breath and over heating.
The labs only about 4 or 5 years old anyways.
No excuse for that.. no medical problems, nothing.
She just simply overfeeds her.

And here these last few weeks, Cleo has lost 2lbs, just by getting out there and playing tug and jolly ball.
She's the type of dog, where you REALLY have to watch how much you feed her, because she can gain weight QUICK!
I only feed 1/2 cup of Wellness two times a day, and she does really well with that.
I rarely give her treats unless its her Wellness Chicken and Lamb Jerky treats.
Oh, and ice cubes!
Gonna have to play a lot of tug and jolly ball tomorrow!

So, guess you could call this another rant thread.
Had to tell somebody about it, since there aint nobody here right now but me and Cleo.
I'd talk to her, but doesnt seem like a very good listener.
Just looks at me like I'm a tard.

Ahh, I feel better.
Thanks for listening.

Well...

I would have been pissed off as soon as I heard from anyone that they had been feeding my dog anything without my permission. Sasha has some allergies, so I have that to be concerned with this time around. But I've been that way with any dog I've owned.

I wouldn't have lasted as long as you did before I'd have been firing with both barrels.

I'm a grouch, I like dogs more than most people, and people with "good intentions" such as that tend to really bring out the nasty in me.

Be thankful it wasn't some demented whack job with meat full of broken glass or something.

Fuck her! What a nosy bitch, your dog looks great.

Everyone says the same thing at Petco when I have My dogs with me, I just reply. "fat dogs live short miserable lives it is the duty of a dog owner to keep the dog healthy"

I would have been furious as well and I probably wouldn't have been very nice about it.

Hogar, give me Abby and you can have Cleo!

MPIS, I had a Blackmouth Cur/Bulldog a few years ago, and our neighbors ol' lady (at the time) gave him antifreeze, and killed him.

He was one hell of a hog dog. I'll miss that old boy. RIP Trouble.

Thanks!
When I see healthy dogs, I can actually respect the owner for putting in time with them, and keeping them healthy.

When I see fat dogs, it makes the owner looks bad.
If the dog had a medical condition, you can't help that.
But when your dog is just fat from overfeeding and not enough exercise, it's just unexcusable.
Makes me sick to my stomach, and pisses me off.

Thanks Hogar,

Yeah, you shoulda seen my dad.
I was still living with the parents at the time.
He said he was going to light their house on fire with them and their shit eating dogs in it.
Lol random, I know.
He's the crazy, dont give a shit kinda person.
He was pissed though, much as he hated to admit it, he loved that dog.
And he knew it hurt me, to lose Trouble.
Just pissed him off even more, to see me that way.
I swear I cried for a month straight over him..

You leave your dog outside where neighbors can come by and give her random treats? I like my neighbors and they all like my dog but there's no way anyone can get near my dog without breaking through something when I'm not around...

Yeah, I'm a daddy's girl.
He's the whole reason I got into bull breeds.
My mother and brother however, aren't really fond of them.
So, usually our conversations are about dogs, that's how we've always bonded lol.

Yep, she's either in our chain length fence, or on her chain spot.

I would have told her if she came on my property again without me knowing I would call the cops and have her charged with trespassing, I would put up signs and such, the hole nine yards...I would want to strangle her, Goren has a sensitive stomach, so much so that changing foods takes a month or more and he still gets cow pie stool during the process...adding 2 handfuls of treats would probably involve a vet visit and GI meds for him not wanting to eat because his GI tract hurts... I would be livid I tell ya.

Why are you proud of her losing 2lbs in the past few weeks? Was she not exercised for a while, and then you started working with her again to get her back in shape?

Yeah, idk why people think we starve our damn dogs!
I mean come on!
I wish (almost) everyone on PBC were my neighbors.
Then, I might get a little appreciation for keeping my dog healthy.
Seems like the these people are the only people I've ever talked to, that know having a thin dog is better than an obese one!

yea, it sucks, when they try to give him treats at petsmart and stuff I either give them one of mine or take it home to my fiances disabled terrier, he can eat crap hehe. I hate it since he is a outside dog (only inside supervised and only for about an hour at a time) then he could have someone come up and give him something that he can't handle...I have 2 great neighbors though and one that is scared of dogs so I don't think they would get to my fence (its about 20 feet inside the property back from the start of the house) my 2 that are great are elderly so you know they are nosy people and I like it that they watch my house and dogs when I am at work and such.

No, I work her a bit outside everyday.
She's been in pretty good shape, just is in a little better shape now.
Tug helps her back legs and her tuck, and jolly ball helps everything.

Yeah, she's the same way.
Hardly ever comes in!
She would destroy everything, if she was unsupervised lol.

I wish I had neighbors like that.
